This Maple Snare from Pacific Drums by DW features an all-maple shell with maple hoops and chromeplated brass tube lugs. 5-1/2" x 14".
This Pacifc Snare Drum is a one of a kind in its price range. The drum it self sounds Great! The wood rim reallys works like magic for rim shots. The sound of the drum is very warm and it gives a fat tone. It looks great too!

As soon as I received this snare I played around with it and was immediately satisfied. It tunes really well (even with it's generic head). The true test was using it in a live set three days later. The results were fantastic. It has great definition. It cracks through the music with power and warmth. The wood hoops not only look really cool but sound awesome. I play with a progressive rock band and also play Latin jazz and Brazilian and it delivers in all scenarios. The wood hoops give me the best rim shots and cross stick sounds I've ever had. I tested a great deal of snares from all different brands and didn't find anything that sounded this good. Very happy with this purchase. One thing to keep in mind that threw me off is the size. Because of it's wood hoops it is pretty big and does not fit into a standard snare stand. You'll need a stand that can open to hold 16". I tried three and had no luck. That's my next purchase.
