Very nice and durable guitar.

By Sherry

Comments about Ovation Elite 1778 TX Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I waited to do my review so that it would be and honest eavauation of the guitar. I purchased the guitar about 2 years ago from Guitar Center, ( great folks), and have been playing it reguraly ever since. It's very durable and dependable, all the components and hardware are very high quality, and the instrument sounds wonderful. I use it mostly plugged but have miked it with great results. I really do love this guitar and would buy it all over again. I've been an active musician since the early 70's so I have played and owned a lot of differant guitars. I have a few keepers and the 1778 is definitely one.

Perfect

By Phillip Andreani

from Saint Paul, Minnesota

Comments about Ovation Elite 1778 TX Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I recently purchased the natural version of this guitar and I am completely blown away. This guitar is probably the best bang for your buck. The guitar sounds incredible unplugged or plugged in. The body shape with the mid-depth back and multiple sound holes gives this guitar a nice open, bassy tone. The playability is insane. It is an easy switch from electric to this guitar. The shape of the body fits very comfortably whether you're strapped in or sitting down. I have always been a huge fan of Ovation guitars and this guitar is as good as any higher priced Ovation. I highly recommend this guitar.

What A Versatile Guitar!!!

By Michael Kahut

from Portland, Oregon

Comments about Ovation Elite 1778 TX Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Most of my playing is unplugged but I wanted the flexibility of electric as well. Knowing that a thin body makes for a pretty thin acoustic sound, I shied away from the Ovation super shallow designs and was leery of the mid-depth bowls as well. Then, a friend brought over his Ovation with a mid-depth bowl, a Balladeer 1771. I was astonished by the rich and well defined tone of the guitar, from the punch of the bass to the bell-like clarity of the highs. I played it and my perceptions of Ovation changed in that instant. Having spent some time with my Elite TX series Ovation, all I can say is you can't get a better guitar for the price. Sure, you can spend thousands of dollars on a single guitar but the value for the money this instrument brings is beyond any other out there. This guitar is solid, easy to play once it is set up to your liking, has a great visual appeal (one of my friends said, after seeing it, "Darth Vader called. He wants his guitar back.") and won't suffer the usual scuffs, scratches, dings and finish crazing other guitars seem susceptible to. So do yourself a favor and try one of these guitars out. You will be pleasantly surprised. Just be prepared for having a difficult time leaving without it in hand.

Great Guitar

By A.K

from San Antonio

Comments about Ovation Elite 1778 TX Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Everything about this guitar sayۡs solid. Acoustically this guitar is just as great as anything you are going to pick up and play in its price range and above. Plugged in this guitar is awesome! If you do your research like I do before a purchase, youۡll notice this guitar has many of the same features as some of the more expensive ovation models. Such as OP-PRO pre amp, pick-ups and AA solid spruce top. The finish is easy to keep clean, no finger marks or smugges show up at all. The finish will take getting a use to. Its different then anything else out there. It is also a little rougher on the bottom side to help keep it from sliding of your lap. The tuners are tight and the strings are fed though the bridge instead of held by pegs, which means great string tension. Tune it to your liking and it stays there. The fret board is clean and fast for those who like to go between an electric an acoustic guitars. All in all you canۡt go wrong with this guitar. If you are thinking about getting this thing buy it and know you did the right thing. If itۡs a little out of your price range wait and save for it, well worth the wait.

Tone & quality baby.

By X

Comments about Ovation Elite 1778 TX Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I came across some vids of Al DiMeola. I noticed his Ovation and came here only to find my old 1778 Elite. Long story short: I sat in the Seattle GC with the 1778 across from a player w/a Martin D16RW that I was considering. The tone and playability of the 1778 was amazing and held its own. Deep lows. Rich, bright highs. I bought it only to trade it twd my ash am dlx strat. I miss it. Onboard preamp & tuner. No mess black satin poly finish over the spruce top. Plays any style easily. Btw: the price is better now too. You'll need a strap to keep it on your lap...but just try Ovation.
