Acoustic for Electric Players

Ovation's current top-of-the-line in the super shallow body, this guitar is extremely comfortable to play--not much larger than a Les Paul, and considerably lighter. The cutaway permits easy access all the way up the asymmetric fret board, which offers just shy of two octaves on the first string. While lacking some of the fullness and booming projection of the deeper body styles, the super-shallow body offers more than adequate volume, about that of a typical OO auditorium-size guitar. Like most Ovations, the action is stiffer than, say, a Martin or Takamine, inviting an aggressive technique. Stepping up from less expensive models, the inlays are inlaid prior to drilling and varnishing, for an effect that's striking against back and downright beautiful in the New England Burst. The hard case is more of a hybrid; it provides the padding and structure of the previous Ovation hard cases with a gig-bag exterior featuring padded backpack straps and three large (if low profile) exterior pockets, that are perfect for fairly flat accessories like cables, strings, straps, etc.. The preamp/tuner came supplied with an eco-friendly 9V which was, unfortunately, DOA, which I suppose might have been disappointing had I expected a battery to be included. Overall, it's an attractive, comfortable guitar, and a great instrument for an electric player looking to add some acoustic flavor to their repertoire.
