• Just what I needed

  After reading a few not really excellent reviews of this product on this and Ovation's home page, I was quite doubtful whether to buy this case or not. Since my old Balladeer desperately needed some protection and a mean for transportation, I ordered this case on-line thru GC. Got it promptly, few days later, well packed and protected for transportation. No scratches, no damage in very good shape. I have hard-shell cases with my other guitars and I know their pros and cons. And a few buck higher price wasn't the main consideration in the "case of this case". I was simply looking for proper (bowl-type!) sized case to fit deep contour bowl guitar, transportable (on my back while riding bike), with few extra pockets for cables, note sheets, spare set of strings, etc. Yes, and a good looking stuff too, with "Ovation" logo since the guitar is of the same brand. And with this case I got just what I needed. My guitar fits in perfectly. Gives good protection from dust, moisture, direct sun, sharp objects, kids, cat...It's lightweight, easy transportable in one hand or as a backpack, hands-free solution. I was very careful with the zipper initially (thanks to the review before me)but found out later that this zipper requires just the same attention as the ones on any other average nylon carry-on peace of luggage. No more and no less. This stuff obviously has it's limitations: wouldn't recommend to expose it heavily to the elements. Anyway, will protect your guitar if you got caught by a shower. Check-in with airlines - probably not. Transportation on your truck's bed for days and nights - nope! But to protect your guitar when not playing and for transportation of the instrument and some extra stuff in the side pockets - yes, to me it's just the right thing.

• Should have bought the hard shell

  I bought this one instead to save money. Within 3 days, I got the zipper caught on the ribbon that holds the lid upright when open, and had to cut it out. The zipper is a pain to open and close. But that being said, it seems to protect the guitar just fine. I have mine hanging from a hanger as I bounce down the road in a Semi-truck, and the straps make a handy way to hang it. It's also slightly less bulky than the hard shell case, but unless you live in a truck, space isn't an issue. A little bit more gets you a better case.
