Ovation's award-winning multi-soundhole technology is now incorporated into the Applause AE148. Its full, balanced sound is pumped out through the calibrated spruce top and fine-tuned bracing. The Lyrachord body allows for the back of the guitar to be free of reinforcements that can inhibit sound projection. A slim contoured neck allows for fast and effortless playing that suits any style from finger picking to power chords.

Ovation's Slimline pickup captures true acoustic tone and delivers a powerful signal with plenty of headroom to combat feedback in high-volume conditions. The OP-4B active preamp has a gain knob; a battery LED; plus independent bass, mid, and treble EQ sliders.

    This guitar is nearly perfect!!!!! I am absolutely amazed that this was only $250. it feels like a $2500 guitar. the only complaint i have is that the volume knob buzzes a little bit. but can easily be fixed by wedging a small piece from a toothpick between the knob and the screw

  • Action attraction

    Bought used. After some easy work on the truss rod and saddle, the action is absolutely amazing, (watch Adam Turbiner from Ovation on YouTube). Easy to adjust to your playing preference. The mids and highs project very well and are very defined and crisp, while the bass is subdued, nice presence and not booming, (it is a nice shallow body). This is a wonderful guitar, and I highly recommend (for any guitar you own) ~ have the action set properly. Neck width is very small, takes conscious effort to adjust from larger widths. Smooth round back makes the body slide while sitting. I have cut small shapes of an old rubber mouse pad and hot glued them to the points the guitar body rests on my leg while sitting. It stays put now, and I'd swear it is louder now as well.

  • Nice guitar

    This guitar looks nice and plays well and has a great tone. It is a good value at this price. there are 2 complaints that are fairly minor and easy to fix. The action is set too high at the factory and the truss rod needs to be adjusted which greatly improves ease in playing. The finish is beautiful but the paint has a very strong smell when you get the guitar unpacked. Left sitting out it goes away in a few days. Overall this is a nice guitar which looks and sounds great at a great price.
