This Orange County Drums and Percussion Venice Floor Tom is crafted with a basswood shell to offer great power, projection, and edgy looks. Pro OCDP drum features include the uniquely offset black lugs (staggered—not directly in line with each other—for a more custom look) and black hoops.
great sound,i have played with this kind of set and the sound that comes out of this tom is incredible.it is sort of like a cannon when its played,great resonance and its such a great tone for any kind of style of music.i recommend getting this tom or the whole set,i have played with these kind of drums and im giving you my word,this is the DREAM drum set.
I Just got this tom the other day and when you replace the stock head its a really good drum. You can tune it in many ways without any wrinkles and it makes a full warm sound. Sounds good with a 16x16 or by itself.
I only have one gripe about what is offered for add-on drums in this series (Avalon): nothing in an 18" size. Other than that, I was able to tune both of my 16" floor toms differently (much like Buddy Rich) with little difficulty. I do need some gaffer's tape to kill the ring, but that is necessary for many drums. I still love the kick drums best in this range, but the floor tom is pretty nice, as well. I didn't like the 14" AT ALL, but the 16" is pretty versatile.
