  • Great Price For A Great Drum!

As reviewed by Brent on 4/13/2010

I Picked up this snare about 4 days ago, and It is the best snare I have owned by far. Extremely easy to tune, and gives a very bright, tight, poppy tone. I would recommend this snare to anyone who is looking for an upgrade, you will not be disappointed.

  • Very Versatile Snare

As reviewed by Phil K. on 12/3/2010

Before I?ve purchased this snare, I was playing ?Pork Pie? 12 x 5 ?Little Squealer?. I still love pop & punch of the little snare. However, I wanted a snare with wider range of tuning. I also wanted a snare that can provide me a ?Fatter? sound for rock or ballad music where you do need deeper voice. I?ve tried various 14-inch wooden snares with wider depths, and a lot of those sounded ?Too Deep? or ?Too Rounded? which would be difficult to cut through the mix in live situation. After trying a number of 13-inch wooden snares, I?ve decided that 13-inch snare would be a good fit to satisfy my needs. When I saw this snare for the first time, I assumed that 7-inch depth would sound just like another 14-inch snares that I?ve tried before. Also, I was not a big fan of ?Wrapped Drum? with glitter. I always thought natural finish without a wrap would provide better sound than wrapped ones. In spite of all the skepticism I had, the exact word that came out of my mouth was ?Wow? after playing for a few minutes. It had the ?Fatter? sound with ?Warmth? that I was looking for while still providing clear punch & crack to cut through the mix. I play a lot of ghost notes, so clear projection of those are also an important factor when choosing a snare. This snare had very clear projection of ghost notes while providing ?Openness? of maple wood & triple flanged hoop. I believe those tighter & more solid sound is the advantages you get with ODCP drums. I?ve been playing this snare almost 6 months so far. It is very well-constructed product with much of craftsmanship. I also like ?Dunnett Swivel Throw Off? which is very convenient when you don?t have much space to work with. For amount of money I?ve spent for this snare, it was well worth it. I would recommend to any drummer who plays Rock, Funk, R&B, or etc?

This is an outstanding drum that is super tight and poppy, and able to provide a punch that stand out no matter how loud the music youre playing is. I've had this drum about 6 months but I doubt ill ever get another snare drum
