I loved the sound of this snare drum...super big and warm. But the lugs keep snapping, and im definately the kind of guy that DOESNT like to tighten his snare drum to full capacity. I cant even use it anymore because im tired of buying replacements all the time. And its the part that the lug screws into that breaks its the threaded female end, which are hard to find.

Good

By Drew Barnabe

from Athens, Michigan

Comments about Orange County Drum & Percussion X-Series Snare Drum:

This is a good snare. Although it has more ring than I wanted it still sounds good. The only thing that I don't like about it is it has no internal dampener. But it definitely has a unique sound to it. Another plus to it is, it's loud. If you hit rim shots just right you will probably hurt your ear. Over all it's a good snare for a good price.

Sweet snare for sweet price!

By Jeff On Drums

Comments about Orange County Drum & Percussion X-Series Snare Drum:

I have the ash model. If you throw an Evans HD on it and learn how to tune your drums, this thing will thump! I like the tighter sound from the 13 inch drum and I still get the phat thump i love from the 7 inch depth! And the hardware is sexy!

Great Value

Comments about Orange County Drum & Percussion X-Series Snare Drum:

A buddy of mine bought 6.5x14 snare a year ago and paid $200.00 for it. I thought that was a great deal,so when it went on sale for I got one. It sounds great and the quality is great too. Well worth the money in my opinion. And this thing can be tuned so many ways. I would recommend this to everyone who cant put out big $$$ for a snare.

Cuts like a hot knife through butta

By Nick

from Villa Ridge, MO

Comments about Orange County Drum & Percussion X-Series Snare Drum:

This snare (7X13 Natural Ash) is LOUD, LOUD, LOUD!!! If you need a snare that sounds great and will cut through just about anything; this is the snare for you. I just recently played a show with snare and it could easily be heard through a Mesa Boogie Dual Rec, a nice loud Randall head and an 8x10 Ampeg SVT 4; along with a front man yelling his head off. Warning: You will need ear plugs if you use it. The good thing about it can also be bad; it may not be the best snare for band practice. It will probably be TOO loud.

Nice Groove...

By Infinite Groove

Comments about Orange County Drum & Percussion X-Series Snare Drum:

I play out alot...both local and abroad. I bought this snare as a "back-up" snare. Well, it's not back-up anymore, but up front. I did change the head to a Remo pin-strip for that perfect sound that I was looking to hear. And to be honest, even with the factory head on it, it sounds pretty descent.

Lovely Snare Drum

By Rich

from Indiana

Comments about Orange County Drum & Percussion X-Series Snare Drum:

Firstly, I bought this in the red sparkle. I'm not particularly keen on red but this really looks much better in real life! It's a deep red & the sparkle has a tasteful effect. This drum really does have a deep sound to it! Even with the head tight it still produces a warmer deep resonance. An Evans HD Dry helps with excessive over tones. I found a dampener ring to choke the drum a little too much but that's personal preference! Only one downside if I'm being picky. It's not very 'snare sensitive'. You don't get much snare side action with this drum but it makes an excellent rock snare. It's powerful & loud & just solid.

I'm into the 14x6.5!!!

By Nicee Products Boston

Comments about Orange County Drum & Percussion X-Series Snare Drum:

Heyy Noww! I had bought the 13x7 and was not a big fan. I like a fatter more focused sound so i ordered the 14x6.5 and it was well worth the wait. The drum pumps out a great sound, has a lil more ring than i like but nothing the moon gel did not fix. Besides this drums attractive looks and features I am very pleased with the sound and quality. Try puresound snares with evans hazy res. and onyx bat. I'm into this snare drum.

good sound, bad quality

By Paul C

from AZ

Comments about Orange County Drum & Percussion X-Series Snare Drum:

I bought this snare thinking it was the best snare for the money I spent on it, I was wrong. The snare sounds incredible, but the hardware is far from it. The throw off flips down whenever it wants to, the snare wire tension loosens after playing for only a little while, and one of the lugs broke (the hole where the tension rod goes in). I never gigged the drum, or dropped. I play rather lightly in fact. I don't know if I got a really bad one, or if they are all like that. If you have 100 bucks just lying around, I say risk it. But, if you are like me (on a extremely tight budget) find another snare with a sturdier build.
