Overview

The Micro Vent snare drum from OCDP is designed to give drummers' maximum projection and sensitivity. The 7" x 14" steel shell features dual 2" bands of micro vents, which dramatically increases the volume and responsiveness. Thick die-cast hoops help keep the snare's sound under control, so all that added power doesn't add too much ring to adversely affect your tone. In short, the Micro Vent snare is designed to be louder, more sensitive, drier, and more explosive than any other drum you have ever played. Plus, it has all the small touches that make OCDP snares look so unique, including 20 offset lugs, a chrome finish and all chrome hardware.

This is the most responsive, most explosive snare I have ever played. The slightest touch gets a response yet it has the most perfect resonance and does'nt get vibrations from other toms being hit. It is great for any type of music and the micro vent technology is the most sophisticated I've ever seen put into a snare, or any drum for that matter. This is the best snare available, no doubt about it.

Why? 1. You need WD40 for the tension rods. Sounds like it's going to break after a quarter turn from all of the squeaking. 2. I hit very hard and had to re-tune after every song. Goes out of wack for no reason. 3. Strainer/butt becomes loose after 5 minutes of playing. Really annoying to keep tightening up. 4. Looks cool, but only the cheapest materials were used to build this snare. This is not an OC snare. It is made in Asia. I already own 2 custom OC kits and thought I'd give this a shot. Not worth the money at all. There are way better drums out there for that price.

Great after some adjustments

By eddie poindexter

Comments about Orange County Drum & Percussion Micro Vent Snare Drum:

I play in an 80's rock tribute band so I needed a powerful snare. First of all make sure that you remove the head and tighten every single screw. Next, I used a Puresound snare and a Remo Falam head to kill the high pitch ringing. After these changes I am very happy and I have that fat loud punch right out of 1984!

Meh

By Katherine

Comments about Orange County Drum & Percussion Micro Vent Snare Drum:

I've played on this drum for about a year, and I loved it at first, but I've grown to hate it. It has the crack I wanted but NO depth, and it sounds pretty bad on recordings.

adjust out of the box & it rocks

By steve

Comments about Orange County Drum & Percussion Micro Vent Snare Drum:

tune to 75 bottom, 85 top. this is one of my favorite snares- you need to tune it correctly, once you do that it has a uncontained sound that escapes with ever hit -uncompressed..

Disappointing...

By Drew

from Cranston, RI

Comments about Orange County Drum & Percussion Micro Vent Snare Drum:

I was looking for a backup snare for gigging and loved the depth and the looks of this drum. After swapping out the batter head and numerous tunings (high & low)this drum still sounded like a timbale, no depth at all. The snare band I thought should have been wider also. I returned the drum the next day.

Monster Snare

By Henry

from Fairhope, Al.

Comments about Orange County Drum & Percussion Micro Vent Snare Drum:

I have been playing for over 40 years on small stages, arenas, studios and clubs. This is one of the best overall snares next to Ludwig's Supra I have ever owned/played!! Cuts when you need it to, and can be toned down with tuning and different heads when you want to record. I would recommend it for all levels of playing.

Guys, if you really want to hurt your ears... this is the snare, loud, powerfull, and AMAZING, i bought this one a month ago, and is one of my loudest snares i have, seriously,if you like to play hard, this is for you, it has written the OCDP signature sound all over the snare... believe me. Cheers!

is this really my snare.. : )

By JD

from S.D. California

Comments about Orange County Drum & Percussion Micro Vent Snare Drum:

what can i say about my snare.. it's the best, i put an evans clear coat ec1 reverse dot head on it, and it it so exsplosive. The cost of this snare is what is so impressive, and the quality you get for it. it looks, sounds, and feels like a custom snare, but for half the price. very versatile drum.
