I bought these about a month ago and I love them. They sound good and look good. I also really liked that they offer ad on toms on the GC website. I added a 14x14 floor tom but they also offer a second rack tom to add. This is a great sounding rock kit all around. The toms and kick are loud and boomy. I added a kick port to the kick and there is no annoying or anything it just sounds awesome
The wood bends wayyy too much. the tones are not even equal between the head and wood. you can't even get a steady note from the drum shell. If i were to buy this i would pay about 200 less than the original price. Not worth the money compared to the other OCDP kits...
I decided to buy this kit to have a modern look not knowing what to expect tone wise. Once you put good heads on the toms and bass drum(Emad,G2 or EC2 for me) this kit really comes to life. I would rival them to DW honestly. The all Cherry shells produce a tone that is between birch and mohagany. The hoops are 2.3 mm, all the hardware is stout, sturdy and well made. Memory locks on the floor tom legs, and the rack tom mount. One thing I see as a consideration (the reason I wont give 5 stars) Is the finish. It looks great but does not seem to be very protective. I knocked the rim of the tom on the bass drum hoop and it dinged the finish. If you plan to grow old with this kit plan for a refinish or wrap down the road. I like to do that so I'm good with that. A furniture touch up pen will help if you move this kit around. All in all, Yes this a Venice outfit but this shells are not basswood like the older lines so the price point is unbeatable!!!!
I bought this kit a few days ago to use as a practice kit at home. I have another kit at my band's practice space, but I just recently moved out of the area and needed something to practice on. Originally, I purchased a used kit from GC, but when I came to pick it up, I soon found out that the kit was not what I wanted. So, I returned it. While waiting on the return, this kit caught my eye. I really loved the satin finish on it. The shells sound very warm and deep-close to mahogany. The sizes of the shells are great for rock n' roll, and I really like the hardware. It is quite sturdy. This kit not only would be great to practice on, but to play at any performances.
travis barker doesnt play this band for a reason they have a great punch and ppower to them im in love with mine im glad i picked these and the manager of guitar center gave me all free heads for them (: what sounds best on this kit is evans g2 ive tried the remo heads for this kit but nothing sounds like the evans g2 its alittle pricey but its well worth it 5 stars!
