This amp has been pretty difficult to maintain. It's always breaking down. It's not loud enough, ewven at 50 watts and 212. I've had the reverb go out several times, cathod bypass caps, plate load resistors. Also, it's not like my twin where I can do much of the work myself, you have to be a freaking electrician to change the tubes on this thing. I'd stay away from this and get something handwired/boutique for 2-3k. Orange probably doesn't pay 1/100 in manufacturing costs for these things.
Definitely one of the best sounding amps out there For Real Clean and massive Hard lows with Overdrive!! This amp always amazes me every time I plug in my guitar and start playing. So many Musicians Depend on Orange for their wide variety of sound to mix with their other band members amps to get a more distinct separartion in their sound that can harmonize and blend together and give you that extra range in clarity whether that being heavy or a clean warm or that extra clear crunch that doesn't sound muddy or muffled out like other amps tend to sound. This Amp won't let you down and is guaranteed and made to impress!
for what you get this is not worth the price at all it has a high ring to it so it notgood for recording at all
Abot 2 years ago I switched to orange amps. In addition to this model. I also own a Rocker 30 head and a dual terror head. IMOO Orange is the only company out there making truely classic rock sounding amps.
I saw one of these in the GC used section, unfortunatley played it, and then knew it had to come home with me. And in the short time Ive had it (2 weeks) it has opened up even more already. The amp has a fantastic clean channel to it with a sound similiar to a classic fender bassman, an original marshall, and the mid range punch of an ac30. And the break up on the clean is wonderful and subtle giving the player much control. The dirty channel is a wealth of tones in its own right. The difference between a couple of notches on the gain is night and day. When st arround 12 oclock you get a great classic british crunch. Pump it to full and you get the sustain that will last forever and actually sound good and pure. You can have that classic sunshine of your love tone, Hendrix drive, Eric Johnson, and even metal push with this lil toy. And I havent even mentioned the reverd. That's really what sold me. It is up there with Fenders reverb and when put high it becomes an effect all of its own. I have had a few rattles and a bit of nasty break up happen but I feel this is a weak tube or perhaps an issue that my amp dr can remedy fairly easily. Being used and seeing that I payed less than half price for it, the new tube cost I can handle. Oh, it is very heavy for its wee size so prepare yourself for that.
Orange coming to MF is long overdue. This is a fantastic amp. It's very versitile and has such an amazing tone. It seems to fit any style from clean to earth shaking growl.
