Solid amp, great tone!!

By Dave Mac

Comments about Orange Amplifiers OS-D-TH30-C112 30W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I gig regularly and have for the last 30 years. I've played a lot of different amps but this one has become my favorite. The amp is solidly built and able to take the abuse of gigging. It is loud enough for any situation I've played and the tone is out of this world. The TH30C is a flexible amp with a wide range of great tones to suit your needs in a very simple format. Anything from a crisp clean to a saturated metal tone and everything in between. The only thing I would like to see on this amp that it does not have is reverb. Don't let that be a deal breaker though, this amp is well worth the price.

Orange wrecking ball!

Comments about Orange Amplifiers OS-D-TH30-C112 30W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Alright, so I was initially going into guitar center with a mesaboogie amp in mind.. now keep in mind im not that crazy into the whole amp business so I am not a pro. I know to recognize highs, fuzzies and all the other acronyms to describe sound. But i tried the mesa, as versatile as it was, it was REALLY hard for me to narrow down the sound I wanted to get, and not only that but with so many options, it became somewhat of a headache to switch back and forth. I tried the orange out not really expecting to like it so much... So i grabbed a hold of a strat and started rippin on this amp. tell you what, at first i was thinking, well.. three knobs a channel.. im not sold, til i started tinkering, and each knob is completely responsive in its own way... you can be doing groovy beats, to country, to rock, to metal, to ska on this thing... its ridiculous. orange is legit blown my mind in every way with this amp. It's built incredibly strong as well... not going to lie, it took me 3, 5 hour trips to guitar center and about 10 hours of online research to finally pull out my wallet... but I'm glad i did now, this thing hits hard as hell and ive yet to even crank it to full volume, or even close... i tried half way but my neighbors told me to keep it down, it shook my entire apartment complex nearly.... 5 stars for being the most unsuspecting powerhouse tone beast ive ever played. +++

Small amp, big sound, great tone

By Matthew Walton

from Boston, MA

Comments about Orange Amplifiers OS-D-TH30-C112 30W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp is a revelation! When it arrived, I thought, "Hmmm, looks kind of dinky. Maybe too small to be anything other than a practice amp?" Well, just fire one of these amps up and you'll hear that this is no toy combo! The "clean" channel has a wonderful, warm tone that's just so easy on the ears, and breaks up very nicely when pushed. The "dirty" channel takes a less-is-more approach - just an extremely responsive Shape control for overall tone, Volume and Gain, which goes from Brit-style crunchy to ferocious. As with any amp, you have to experiment for a while to find *your* sound, but it didn't take too long for me to dial in a super-rich, big crunch sound that also gives up singing leads. There's no reverb, true, but the provided effects loop gives you flexibility in that department. The Celestion speaker in this combo is fantastic. It adds to the thickness and warmth of the sound. It's light enough for easy transportation to gigs, yet is very solidly built. No squeaks or rattles from this amp. Easily loud enough for rehearsals and smaller gigs. Extremely happy with this purchase!

Purest of the pure

Comments about Orange Amplifiers OS-D-TH30-C112 30W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp is one of the best amps I have ever played through. I highly recommend all Orange products. I've played Marshall's (and own a few) I've played Mesa Boogie's, I've played Fender and just about everything else you can think of. I play all styles of music from Blues to Metal, and this amp gives you the tone you want, the controls to get what you are looking for, no matter what the style of playing, is so simple. Point is, I HIGHLY recommend it.

thunder 30 combo

Comments about Orange Amplifiers OS-D-TH30-C112 30W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Basically its like this; when looking for a versatile tube combo I was put off by orange amps because it seemed to be alot of money for not alot of features (even lacks on board reverb). But what you pay for is alot of amp, and alot of awesome tone. 30 watts louder than you are ever gonna need, any louder and the venue will have a sufficient PA. No EQ but a bass/treb control for clean and a mid control for dirty. The single most responsive mid control I have ever used. fx loop is great too. Clean channel is very good but the OD...so good, so warm, so fat. Cant speak to reliability because I havent gigged it enough, but the cab is very solid (like all orange amps), intelligent layout with the tubes and chassis and such. I feel like I could throw it off my balcony and it would still work XD. Single coils or humbuckers, from larry carlton to metallica this amp has you covered.

Awesome Amp

Comments about Orange Amplifiers OS-D-TH30-C112 30W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I ordered this amp and I was very happy to finally to get my hands on one. Being made in China, I did find it being a sketchy buy. And unfortunately, the worst happened. I played on it as soon as I got it, and the clean channel tube blew. I was devastated! I immediately sent it back to get fixed, and now that it is, I love it. I totally got past the blown clean channel incident. The clean are warm and can give you some of the best warm blues tone to a bright clean. The dirty channel is incredibly versatile. You can go from classic 70s tone to scoop mids metal tone. This is a working man's amp. Instead of carrying around a half-stack, this sucker will get the job done at band practice and shows. This is a really loud amp for it's size. I plan on pairing it with a 2x12 cab soon to get a complete set up. I am very happy with this amp. The Clean Tube incident did not phase my love for this amp. You should definitely give it a try.

Unreliable, difficult

Comments about Orange Amplifiers OS-D-TH30-C112 30W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Going from a Marshall JVM410H to this was quite the shock. I live in a small apartment, so 100W of Marshall goodness was just way, way, way too powerful for me and the stack was taking up space in my living room! In comes the TH30 with a nice, vintage-sounding clean tone and a faux-Marshall, yet serviceable dirty tone. After owning this thing for about 2 or 3 weeks, the clean channel just goes kaput! After looking over the board with a tech, he finds mismatched capacitors and blown resistors, also a totally blown volume pot. I never had such issues with any Fender or Marshall amp that I'd owned. Who put this thing together?!? (The Chinese, of course) The clean channel on this (when it works) really does sound nice and warm (think 'Ten Years Gone' by Led Zeppelin) and the dirty is great for anything from classic rock to Black Sabbath (Metallica is pushing it, and scooping all of the mids on this comes close to a Deftones sound but not quite). There is no reverb on this amp, and just not a lot of EQ-type shaping options. The pro (if you're lucky enough to own one that works) is the ability to go from 30W to 15W to 7W without losing a lot of tone. I'm already saving up for my old Marshall back and wishing I would have taken the "Made In China" thing a little bit more seriously.

This baby Rocks

Comments about Orange Amplifiers OS-D-TH30-C112 30W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

I can't go into all kinds of technical descriptions about lows, mids, and highs but, I can tell you, that after having tried out everything out there in the 30 to 50 watt range, this amp was the hands down winner. It is very simple to use however, when you turn a knob, you actually hear a difference in what comes out. You don't need a lot of knobs to get different tones. The shape and gain knobs, give you a ton of control over tones. You might say that it gives you infinate control over the tone. As for power, I tried it out at the 7 watt setting with the volume turned up to about 11. My son comes running downstairs and asks if I can turn the volume down because the "house is shaking." With the class A design, this thing is a beast and is plenty loud enough for most gigging locations! Beyond that, it just sounds great! My other amps sound like toys in comparison . The crunch on this thing is awesome and the clean channel is pristine! I would have liked to get a reverb on it but, it wouldn't have stopped me from buying it much less, recommending it to someone. If you buy this amp, I am sure you will be happy

Comments about Orange Amplifiers OS-D-TH30-C112 30W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp:

Just tried this amp out in the New Orleans store today and was greatly surprised. I have seen these amps since I was a kid and remembered them because they look like sherbert ice cream. I plugged in today and I was floored. This amp completely blew me away. I noodled with the clean side and was pleased at what I heard. The amp is clean as a bell, not Fenderish, but it is usable unlike other tube combos (Iۡm looking at you Peavey 6505) that I have recently tried out. The dirty side is where this amp shines. It has nice thick British tone and the distortion is earth shattering. It is a natural tube distortion that it unmatched by any digital modeling. This amp can do everything even metal (barely) if you are curious. This is a no frills amp which is great for a lot of people but not for me. There are not a lot of options for tone shaping on this baby which is the one thing a can not get over. Also even though the distortion is great it lacks the thump that I like in an amp. Overall buying this amp would not be a mistake for any guitar player. It does have its weaknesses (which I will admit are due to my own tastes) but this amp is built like a tank and will not disappoint. So go get one.
