I used one of these at GC when shopping for a guitar and assumed it was a tube amp, because it sounds like a tube amp. I played professionally for 12 years and owned a 1960 Fender Super Amp, a 1972 100 watt Marshall Plexi stack and numerous other Fenders and Marshall-type amps. Tubes hold no special fascination for me, I've had to replace them and listen to them go bad for years, so I am very open to a good sounding solid state amp, which has been an oxymoron in the past. This is the first one I've used that really has the tube sound.

I waited for six months after buying mine at GC Reno to write a review to get a chance to find any bugs or QC issues, but the amp has been flawless. It's built like a tank. The speaker sounded kind of bass-less at first, but this went away with break-in, as I expected it would.

If you are looking for a dark metal sound or real heavy gain without pedals, this probably isn't the amp for you. Even with the gain and overdrive controls maxed, the sound is crunchy blues or 80s metal, maybe even a little light for that. For me, that is the sound I'm looking for and is hard to find out of the box on most modern amps; they all seem to have too much gain to dial in a nice biting sound, which this amp does perfectly.

If you play with an acoustic drummer and are looking for a stage amp, this probably isn't it either. It will get pretty loud but it doesn't really have the dispersion with its 10 inch speaker to be real stage amp in most situations. You might want to opt for the 60 watt Pix version.

I wanted a home practice amp that didn't make me tear my hair out trying to get a good sound, like a lot of amps I've owned. This is a great low-maintenance practice amp and maybe low volume stage amp, so don't try to make it something it wasn't meant to be and you should be perfectly happy with it.

I got this to use as a practice amp. I needed to replace a Fender Bullet that started to have intermittent issues. When I set it up in my music room I noticed that it lacked the brightness I like and was accustomed to from my Fender and my Marshall AVT50. It seems more noticeable on the clean channel. Bummer. So I'm going back to GC to exchange it.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Crush35RT 35W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

This is a great sounding amplifier for the price. It really does feel like a tube amp (although SS), and MUCH better sounding than a Marshall DSL5c at half the price, plus it has reverb. If you aren't looking for a modeling amplifier, this is the way to go. The whole Orange Crush line at 20 watts and above are great!

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Crush35RT 35W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

I had the fender mustang 1v for about a month, it sounded ok. But it started to sound a little "computerized" so for about 150$ more i picked this up and loved it right from the start. It has a authentic sound to it a mixture of warmth and gritty. It sounds powerful without loosing its cool in when played loud. I highly recomend it!

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Crush35RT 35W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

Just picked this amp up today after many months of reviews and looking at all the different type of amps out there in this price range. I made the right choice for me. This amp sounds wonderful, looks great, easy to use and is made solid. I tried a modeling amp only to spend more time playing with buttons then playing music. If your looking for a simple, great sounding practice amp or even a amp to recorde with, give this crush a look at, it might be just what you need.

I love so many things about this little amp! The tone quality is amazing! It can get very loud for a small amp but it keeps it's composure. I lead praise n worship at my church with a congregation of 200 or so and I just send the signal to the p.a. and I have no complaints, it still sounds great! I've had 2 other praise n worship leaders say that can't believe I get all of that sound out of that little amp.

This amp sounds extremely good, I'm amazed that it is a solid state. The cleans are very good, mid gain is great and lots of gain sounds very good also if that's your thing. The sound cleans up very nicely when the guitars volume is turned down when at high gain, just like a tube amp. It's about the cutest practice amp you can buy, also the tuner and reverb works good. At this price don't hesitate, just buy it.

Pretty good practice amp. Its not ultra versatile, but it fits what I need. its easy to use, its convienent to haul around and because of the low price I don't feel like I have to baby it everywhere I go. I have a Vox AC30 combo for paid gigs, but I take the Crush 35RT to practice sessions and whatnot to lessen the wear and tear on my AC30. it certainly doesn't replace the sound of a tube amp, but it doesn't have too. Really happy with it so far.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Crush35RT 35W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

This is the best sounding amp in its price range. I bought it as a practice amp to supplement my Marshall tube amp. The clean channel in particular sounds great with the reverb. The built-in tuner is very accurate. I bought the optional foot switch to change between clean and dirty channels. The amp is really loud at 35 watts, so you could use it with a band. Sure, it doesn't compete with a high-end Marshall or some of the better tube amps, but at 1/7th the cost, it's pretty impressive. I recommend this amp for home practice or for someone starting out. By the way, I played the 35RT along side the 20RT. The 35RT is distinctly better sounding. Most likely because of the larger speaker. So I would buy the 35RT even if you don't need the power.
