first off, this is a very cool little bass amp, but do not expect to gig big rooms with it. that being said, i absolutely love the tone of this amp. it reminds me of the 50watt fender bassman tone i heard the older guys playing when i was i kid. this amp is all about tone, but it does have the volume to rehearse with low level playing. you could probably use it for a jazz or low key blues gig.it is actually pretty loud and very solid sounding for 50 and a 12"speaker, but, it is the tone that i really like. with something of this ilk i recommend turning the master volume up to about 3o'clock and then get your volume to where you want it by turning up the gain. that is what works best for me. also, the single coils of my jazz bass are much cleaner and punchier than my MM or warwickHH. i think it is a little small for humbuckers to translate very well, and i am kind of a single coil guy mostly anyhow. it looks very cool and is easy to carry. like i said before, i recommend not overdriving the gain too much. i can get a very warm, round, tone with plenty of bottom and clarity with my fender jazz. my p bass sounds pretty good too. if you want a very cool little bass amp to rehearse with or play small gigs try this. if you want to get some great tone just for the sake of enjoying it, then this is a great amp for you. i gave it 4 stars rather than 5 because of the volume restrictions. great tone and value for the cost. enjoy.

Besides the built in tuner this amp has nothing to satisfying about it.It doesn't have a good deep low end bass sound.I've played fender 25 and 30 watt amps that sounded like they had a smoother deeper low end sound, and with that they also were louder. This amp at full volume just doesn't have a clear sound. The gain on it is key to the volume. If your a person who doesn't want a lot of gain in your sound DONT BUY THIS AMP. Without the gain on this amp theres no volume. It looks cool i'll give it that but I wouldn't buy it for anything other then playing it in your bedroom or something from that nature.Nothing impressive from the sound that comes out of thus bass.I ended trading it and paying 120$ for a hartke amp at the local pawn shop.I currently use the new fender rumble amps and those are by far the best amps out there. I don't give this amp a strong review at all. I would not recommend this amp even to the person just jamming in their room.

    Great amp for the price

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Crush PiX CR50BXT 50W 1x12 Bass Combo Amp:

Having read some of the other reviews, I will start out saying that as with most things, you have to actually use the amp and work with the settings to get the sound you want. The controls look simple enough but it takes some time to get things right. This isn't a "turn it up to 11 and just play" kind of rig. The amp takes pedals well enough which extends your sound capabilities. If it sound's dry, don't blame the amp, try tweaking the settings until you get the sound you like and then drop in some of your pedals. I used this amp for small acoustic gigs - I had an acoustic bass that worked well with the amp. I never turned it up above 2-3 for most of these gigs. It can be quite loud, especially if you drop pedals in front and start hitting the gain. The amp is solidly built and I have actually dropped mine out of the back of my (parked) car and it still works just fine. I am now using a solid body electric bass with a single humbucker pickup and it still sounds great. The amp is 50 watts RMS, so that is what you are getting. The 12" speaker actually has a great sound with just enough punch to put a smile on my face and yet deep enough to get a nice rumble if you set it up that way. It is a 12" so if you like that 15" speaker rumble, then get a 15" cab. If you like the tight attack of a 10" then keep looking. Personally, I like the 12" speaker's range and versatility. You aren't going to rock an arena with this amp unless you use the line out to go straight to the PA and are using the headphone out to an ear piece and not worried about cutting through the mix on stage. For small gigs, it will work with the right setup into the PA using the line out. If you want a full blown stage rig for gigs, go with a 500-1000 watt head+8x10 cab and get on with life. You shouldn't even be looking at combos if that's the case. If you want something that you can practice with that is also light, loud enough for small venues and versatile enough to hook into the PA system if you want loud, then get this amp.

    Killer Bass 1x12

    By Damien Smith

    from VA

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Crush PiX CR50BXT 50W 1x12 Bass Combo Amp:

I bought this to go with my Dean Edge 1. It sounds great, honestly. You can't get distortion out of the gain, but I use a fuzz pedal for distortion anyway. The built in tuner works nice, but on occasion after extended use it stops working and all of the lights shine based on how hard you strum, even when it's off. I guess that's just overheating. Not a big deal, though. The bass is monstrous on this. Even when I cut all of the bass, it's still very apparent. And when I go to the max on bass...you can really feel it. The volume for the size is great. It can fill up a small room at like 2 or 3. When I crank it up towards 5 or so, it can keep up with my Les Paul & Peavey 5150 half stack. A definitely good buy.

VIntage Brit sound great vintage looks

    By MANISCALCO MIKE

    from Clifton NJ

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Crush PiX CR50BXT 50W 1x12 Bass Combo Amp:

If you like flat dry Brit vintage tone then this amp is perfect for you. It gets some good volume for a 50 watter and doesn't really distort much, it looks awesome and is typical of the Orange line. The tuner works perfectly and is a great feature to have built in. The tone is good enough but to me is dry and flat and the tone controls do very little to manage that. Nothing against the amp, its just not really my taste in tone. It is not a tight punchy growly GK, and it is not a fat warm Ampeg...if you like the typical British tone then go for it you will love it. I've played actives and passives, buckers and singles through it, high end Fender, Gibson and Ibanez basses, just cant seem to get any real different tone out of it, it always seems to sound the same, not very tight, quick or anything but dry and flat.

    Fantastic practice and recording amp

    By JOHN HILA

    from NJ USA

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Crush PiX CR50BXT 50W 1x12 Bass Combo Amp:

I just purchased this Orange Crush 50 watt amplifier, and am very pleased. I tried it out at the store (East Brunswick, NJ - Great staff!) with a MIM Jazz Bass, similar to my P Bass Special. I forgot to bring my bass, and let's face it - we all love trying out another guitar anyway. The sound quality is fantastic, from low to high volume it stays clean and articulate. Every nuance you play is picked up and broadcast with this amp. I love the basic, simple dashboard. Volume, low, mid, high and gain. A headphone out, a line out, and a mp3 input. Simplistic brilliance. Just what you need, nothing more. And it works. Easy to dial in your sound, elation as you hear clearly what you are playing, and cool, classic look of orange tolex. Perfect for practice, recording, and a small club gig. If these are your needs, and I'm sure these are the needs of 90% of us out here, this is an amp you need to test drive. For $260, it can't be beat.

I think you're gonna like this!

    By Tim Polak

    from Mentor, Ohio

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Crush PiX CR50BXT 50W 1x12 Bass Combo Amp:

Not a lot of Guitar Centers, or stores in general carry Orange products. I went to Guitar Center and played through a bunch of amps and decided to gamble on this amp by ordering online sight unseen and I am happy I did. I use this amp to play with an acoustic trio. I play Fender basses and like a warm tone with punch on the attack. I generally keep my treble under half way, mids about a quarter and bass about three quarters (just to give you an idea). This amp has all of that. It keeps a really even warm tone up and down the neck (although past the 12th fret seems a little louder). Turning up the gain slightly higher than the volume gives a nice subtle growl down low. The built in tuner is nice. The size and weight is IDEAL for gigging. I was disappointed to see Made In PRC..."is that a British Isle?" I thought...nope...People's Republic of China. So much for handmade British stuff (that's kind of why I went Orange over Ampeg) But, for the price, what do you expect? Overall, if you are looking for a compact warm, clean toned amp, this will make you quite content. Also, other thoughts, the volume and control of the amp exceeds what I would think 50W to be and the input jack for an mp3 player is a cool feature but really doesn't sound very good. I don't know what I would have expected but it basically will give you the ability to hear a song to play along to, but sounds pretty muffled and like a recording made for a stereo is coming through a single 12 inch speaker
