First, the good: I love the look of my amp. I bought the orange one, and as expected, the look is flawless. I also like Orange's approach to the speaker grille, which they made detachable (with a nylon strap loop in the lower right corner and several strips of Velcro). This provides very easy and quick access to the speaker, which might come in handy. As for sound, it's classic Orange tone as long as your bass is completely passive. I have a P-Bass with the standard split pickup configuration, and I get a mid-rich sound that fits in perfectly with 70s and 80s rock. Now, with that having been said, my primary bass is an Ibanez SRX650 with passive pickups, but an active 2-band EQ preamp. The thing I noticed immediately about this bass on this amp was that I could not turn my Ibanez's bass pot past about 50% without hearing some rather significant distortion. This is by no means the end of my Orange, but it is certainly something that you should note before you purchase this amp. One more thing; the tone that I get out of this amp while using my Ibanez is incredible. It is a very modern sound, which I tend to prefer. I scoop the mids almost entirely on the amp, and with my bass's treble pot turned to about 10%, I get a fabulous sound comparable to that of Queen's Another One Bites the Dust. This amp is extraordinarily versatile, especially when you consider the low price. Just make sure that you can handle cutting some of the low end out of your active bass's sound when you make this purchase.

I've owned this amp for over a year, and two amp techs have reached the same conclusion I have; it sounds wonderful IF you're using a bass with passive pickups. The EQ controls on the amp are lacking, but for the price, I didn't expect a whole lot, so I wasn't too terribly bothered by that. The problem is that my Ibanez bass (dual Active Humbuckers) puts out far too much gain for this amp to handle. The result? You can push the volume on the bass to about 80% and the "low" knob to about 40%. I don't know about everyone else, but I believe a bass amp should, at the very least, be able to handle BASS. I'm not talking about super heavy metal stuff, either. The limitations of this amplifier have prevented me from obtaining, well, really any desirable sounds. You could get this to use as a bedroom practice amp, but if you have active pickups, I implore you to look for another model. The Fender Rumble series is an excellent (and competitively priced) model. I have dealt with this amp's shortcomings for too long. I will be replacing it shortly.

Works well with bass, and not a bad Guitar Amp. I use it for guitar with my pedal board, for echo/chorus etc.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Crush PiX CR50BXT 50W 1x12 Bass Combo Amp:

I purchased this amp in the hopes of getting something to practise at home with. They delivered on this but it stops around there. When this amp is pushed, it distorts badly, losing much of the tone. This amp couldn't even hold up in a rehearsal situation without distorting badly whenever the volume knob went past halfway (gain being at around halfway, passive instrument). The amp, however, is very much suitable for a beginner bass player. It is easy to use, doesn't bombard the user with graphic EQ's and compressors.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Crush PiX CR50BXT 50W 1x12 Bass Combo Amp:

I had a limited budget and a tiny apartment, so I needed an amp that could double as bass and guitar amp. Multiple reviews lead me to believe this would get the job done, and it has. But I enjoyed the sound it produced while playing bass so much I rarely use it for guitar at all.

Pros: Solid, no rattling, and can be pushed. Played first with a Squier P-Bass and to match the band I was playing with I had to crank it, and it didn't distort or fart. Now that I'm playing an American P through it, I don't have to push it nearly as hard. But this thing was keeping up with a massive 4x12 guitar cab in a small practice space playing 80s hair metal. Has an extension out, headphone out, and aux in. Great for bedroom jam sessions or smaller practice spaces.

Cons: Extension out shuts down internal speaker. I now need a bigger rig, and can't just add an extension to this without shutting off the internal speaker. Might be great if I was going to get some monster 4x10, but I'd love to just have a 2x12 rig. Not sure a 50w SS into a 4x10 would even be enough for larger venues. Orange cabs are prohibitively expensive anyway.

Bottom line: Great cab for the money. I passed over a used Ampeg BA115 with 3 times the output wattage because this was more clear and seemed to have that it-factor. Lighter too. I don't envision selling it even after I buy a more powerful 1x12 rig because of how small and powerful it is.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Crush PiX CR50BXT 50W 1x12 Bass Combo Amp:

Having read some of the other reviews, I will start out saying that as with most things, you have to actually use the amp and work with the settings to get the sound you want. The controls look simple enough but it takes some time to get things right. This isn't a "turn it up to 11 and just play" kind of rig. The amp takes pedals well enough which extends your sound capabilities. If it sound's dry, don't blame the amp, try tweaking the settings until you get the sound you like and then drop in some of your pedals. I used this amp for small acoustic gigs - I had an acoustic bass that worked well with the amp. I never turned it up above 2-3 for most of these gigs. It can be quite loud, especially if you drop pedals in front and start hitting the gain. The amp is solidly built and I have actually dropped mine out of the back of my (parked) car and it still works just fine. I am now using a solid body electric bass with a single humbucker pickup and it still sounds great. The amp is 50 watts RMS, so that is what you are getting. The 12" speaker actually has a great sound with just enough punch to put a smile on my face and yet deep enough to get a nice rumble if you set it up that way. It is a 12" so if you like that 15" speaker rumble, then get a 15" cab. If you like the tight attack of a 10" then keep looking. Personally, I like the 12" speaker's range and versatility. You aren't going to rock an arena with this amp unless you use the line out to go straight to the PA and are using the headphone out to an ear piece and not worried about cutting through the mix on stage. For small gigs, it will work with the right setup into the PA using the line out. If you want a full blown stage rig for gigs, go with a 500-1000 watt head+8x10 cab and get on with life. You shouldn't even be looking at combos if that's the case. If you want something that you can practice with that is also light, loud enough for small venues and versatile enough to hook into the PA system if you want loud, then get this amp.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Crush PiX CR50BXT 50W 1x12 Bass Combo Amp:

Besides the built in tuner this amp has nothing to satisfying about it.It doesn't have a good deep low end bass sound.I've played fender 25 and 30 watt amps that sounded like they had a smoother deeper low end sound, and with that they also were louder. This amp at full volume just doesn't have a clear sound. The gain on it is key to the volume. If your a person who doesn't want a lot of gain in your sound DONT BUY THIS AMP. Without the gain on this amp theres no volume. It looks cool i'll give it that but I wouldn't buy it for anything other then playing it in your bedroom or something from that nature.Nothing impressive from the sound that comes out of thus bass.I ended trading it and paying 120$ for a hartke amp at the local pawn shop.I currently use the new fender rumble amps and those are by far the best amps out there. I don't give this amp a strong review at all. I would not recommend this amp even to the person just jamming in their room.

OK I have had this for awhile and wish I hadn't bought it. I would have been way better off buying a Hartke 1212 kickback at the time. I would not been out much more money.

All I've ended up using this thing for is to plug a DVD player into for playing cds to practice with. It has absolutely 0 for low end. All I can say positive about it is you can plug a bass into it and make sound. Sound not good sound.

It was replace at the time for 1/3 the price with an 1980 Peavey TNT 100 with a 15 inch eminence in it. Way bigger and heavier but it blows the orange out of the water as a practice amp.

Nope the bass being used is not the issue original '74 Fender Jazz all original near mint which is a tone monster through any decent amp it is plugged into.

The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because you can carry it along with you and let your friends with guitars use it. It actually works ok as a guitar amp. Not great just ok.

I would not recommend this amp to anyone. Sad thing is I have tried to sell it for 1/2 of what I paid for it and can't get anyone to buy it.
