I assure you I do not work for Orange, I'm not that lucky. I won't go on about everything I didn't like about all the practice amps I tried out in the roughly 200 to 400 dollar range but I will say that they all lacked something. Overall, the tube driven amps had good tone, but lacked key features like a good speaker, reverb, or they were only good for 1 genre. Of course, modeling amps have features galore but, no surprise, sound cold and digital. I knew almost immediately the Orange nailed it. Exceptional tone, versatile, quality speaker, reverb, simple layout. As a 'tube guy' myself, I can't say enough about the tones this thing puts out. It's solid state but it has an all analogue signal path so it has a very warm, clear character that is very much alive, light years beyond generic, lifeless digital amps. I know what a high end Orange amp sounds like and this thing gets so close, comparing them would be just splitting hairs. Cleans are full and lush across the spectrum from warm and jazzy to bright and jangly. The Dirty channel is just astounding. This is where you get that classic, stinging yet warm, hairy yet smooth, Orange crunch. From chunky and biting to full on nasty, this amp will cover blues, jazz, classic rock, rock, and modern metal more than gracefully. And, considering those are all the styles I play, this amp is a match made in heaven for me. The 3 band EQ is very, very responsive which makes this amp capable of a vast amount of tones. The reverb is a surprisingly great addition. It adds dimension and space, it does not color or wash out your tone. For the most part, it's fairly subtle until you get to about 2 o clock. The speaker is perfection. I still can't believe it's only 8 inches. This amp does not sound its size, I promise you that. If you've never heard 1 of these 'Voice of the World' speakers before, you're in for a treat. Obviously this is not an amp for band practice or gigging, but I see no reason you couldn't line out from the headphone jack direct to a PA. On that note, the jack simulates a 4x12 cab, quite nicely if you ask me. I've already done some recording with it that way and it sounds fabulous. The onboard tuner works great, though it's not super accurate it does do the trick if you're just sitting by yourself jamming. Lastly, I love, love , love how simple this amp is. While so many amp makers are going overboard cramming every effect and amp model known to man in tiny spaces, Orange gives you a clean and dirty channel with an excellent EQ for tone shaping so you can focus on playing your instrument, not how closely does it simulate a Tweed or JCM. That's a waste of time as I've owned both and only those amps truly sound like those amps. Orange sounds like Orange, they don't try to be anything else and that's what I love most about them. Go try this amp!!

I bought this amp because I needed something with a speaker I could use for practice at home. It's easy to use, and the reverb and tuner are a great add on. Honestly the sounds you get out of this thing are really not great. The small speaker may be part of it, but this thing sounds like a cheap solid state amp to my ear, despite what the description says. If I were shopping around at this price range again, I'd just get a micro terror or dark terror, and save up for a good cab, or go for a slightly more expensive combo like the Marshall DSL40c, or one of the orange rockers. I am going to keep it as a practice amp, but I'd never play on this thing in front of other people.

great amp

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Crush 20RT 20W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp:

I cant say enough about this amp, its great. I tried an orange for the first time in store and decided to grab one: i was just looking for a small bedroom amp, the price was right, it sounded good and its orange! I got the smaller cr12 i believe its called and was blown away by the sound- it definetly has a warmth that is unique. Anyway, that little amp sounded better when it went louder. I bought another to keep at work and decided to grab this guy, the bigger 20rt. I knew i liked the smaller one but was still blown away! The tuner is convenient and works well. This thing is LOUD! Not quiteI rarely go past the 2nd/3rd tick for a decent sized room and it kills it. Loud enough for easy rehearsal but not quite enough to get past a live drummer. The 2 channel option is great- both share tones, gain and reverb but dirty has its own volume, which it needs... The reverb on this is really good. Great sound dirty or clean, has a unique warmth, responsive. I like the dirty channel through this amp better than any pedal ive tried. It has a great clear overdrive sound while still preserving chords. I am officially orange for life! Id buy it again and will be grabbing a black one to replace the cr12.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Crush 20RT 20W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp:

Everything this amp does it does well, except I had issues with the tuner not coming on every time, on two units. If you turn the power on and off, the tuner springs back to life, however. Not a big deal. The clean channel has great tone, no EQ, but I didn't miss it as it responds well to my volume and tone controls. The dirty channels is well defined and has a broad range. You can go from a hint of overdrive to full soak easily and gradually, it is analog distortion mot modeled distortion, my preference as it tends to be warmer, more granulated in character and "smoother" than emulated stuff. It weighs nothing, it's built very solid, all the knobs are smooth and large enough to see while standing next to the amp. As far as volume goes, for an 8" speaker it is impressive. It doesn't lack as much low end as I thought I would be giving up when I opted for the smaller speaker, but I got this for portability and small rooms. Did not miss the larger speaker, though if you need to play over a full drum kit, you will want the next bigger model, unless you're playing with a very light touch drummer. I think there are three of them in the US. MY only real complaint is that I don't get much drama when I dive off the top of this amp. Not as dramatic as a full stack leap, but the sentiment is there! Worth every penny.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Crush 20RT 20W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp:

I had a Marshall valvestate that was just too big and loud for where I can practice and record. I always had told myself I wanted to get an Orange amp one day so I went into Fountain Valley Guitar Center and traded in the Marshall and got this guy. First of all the amp is beautiful. I've had a fender amp in the same price range and it felt cheap and low grade. From this Orange Amp I get the impression that Orange doesn't make low end amps and that their cheapest models get the same amount of detail and care as the more expensive units. The sound was more than I could have expected. As others have said it is extremely warm and almost tube-like. The reverb was overwhelmingly better (in my opinion) to the built in verb on the Marshall i had. The clean channel is great. With a little gain on it, chords break of ever so slightly which is something that's a big plus for me. The dirty channel is extremely good. A wide range of distortion can be achieved! I am using this amp for practicing and recording so I don't need it to overpower drums (which I doubt it could do) but it is LOUD when cranked. I needed an amp that I could get tone out of without blowing out windows and this Orange delivered. Customer for life after this amp I will look no further than orange amps!

Simply put, I love this amp. Both clean and dirty channels are excellent with a wide range of tonal options. The reverb is very nice, very usable. It is hard to believe this is a solid state amp. The sound is warm and tube like. I have several tube amps and this one hangs right in there for tone and warmth. I will be using this amp for small gigs as it is plenty loud. I can do everything from country to rock with this amp. Very nice!

I am truly amazed by this amp! Both clean and dirty channels are excellent with a broad range of tones available. The reverb is very nice. I will be using this amp on smaller gigs as it is plenty loud. It is hard to believe this is a solid state amp. I have several tube amps including handmade boutique amps. This amp stands up very well. I encourage everyone to give this amp a try!

It's a powerful combo amp. I got what I expected from it. My only problem is that to get to that "sweet spot" it has to be very loud. But, all in all, it's a great amp for any level player.
