Switchable overdrive, 3-band EQ, master volume, headphone out, 8" speaker, auxiliary in, tuner, and digital effects in a compact 20W combo.

The first thing you notice about Orange Crush amplifiers is their cool looks. Just like their bigger brothers, they have the legendary Orange basket weave Tolex, woven speaker grille, beading and legendary hieroglyphs (PiX) and of course the Orange signature 'picture frame' edging. But it's not just cool looks—plug into the Orange CR20LDX amplifier or any of these great little Orange amps and you'll soon realize they are Orange through and through.

The 20W Orange Crush PiX CR20LDX 1x8 guitar combo amp features 3-band EQ control to better define your sound. The switchable overdrive kicks your guitar into high-gear with plenty of heavy tone. The Orange Crush PiX amp's built-in tuner is easy, helpful, and keeps you in precise tune. The auxiliary input is great for an MP3 player, for playing along to, or just jamming out with the loudspeaker. The Orange amplifier's headphone out is great for silent practicing.

The collection of digital effects adds character to sound. The Orange Crush PiX amp's effects include delay, reverb, chorus, and tremolo for a wide assortment of sounds available in this sweet combo. And weighing in at 20 lb. You're gonna love how much sound you can get from this mighty mite.

Features: Power Indicator, Power On/Off, Overdrive On/Off, Tuner On/Off, Tuner Flat/Sharp/Perfect Indicator, Phones. Aux In. Vol. Low. Mid. High. Overdrive. Gain. Instrument Input. FX Mode (16 different digital effects: Reverb Room, Reverb Hall, Reverb Spring, Reverb Chapel, Hall+Delay, Delay 100 ms, Delay 175 ms, Delay 300 ms, Delay 650 ms, Chorus slow, Chorus fast, Flanger slow, Flanger fast, Tremolo slow, Tremolo fast, Vibrato), FX Level (to blend wet and dry signal), Integrated Guitar Tuner (C, D, E, F, G, A, B, #), 8" speaker, AC Mains is removable and not fixed to unit (a plus), Made in PRC (My only qualm with the unit). Quality & Reliability: I've only had it one day so the jury is still out, however, my initial impression is that it seems to be well built despite the fact that it's made in the Peoples Republic of China. Look & Feel: It looks like an Orange: classic Orange graphics, badges, woven speaker grill cloth/screen, steel corner protectors, heavy duty and comfortable handle, top accessed control panel is recessed to protect the knobs from getting banged/broken off, the color scheme and markings on the control panel makes it easy to read too. The unit is compact and very light weight. I'd expect a unit like this to be made of particle board, chip board, or similar heavy, crumbly, material but it's actually made from solid wood planks. Tones: Great for blues, rock, jazz, country, bluegrass, funk, and pretty much anything else except metal or heavier music that requires thick saturation. I'm playing a stock Fender American Telecaster w/maple neck and swamp ash body through it and can get everything from bright, spanking, treble (for chicken-pickin' sounds), to warm, fat, jazz sounds. The overdriven and distorted tones give one more than enough gain to play most rock with but without the loss of articulation that typically occurs with higher gain amplifiers where the notes get buried underneath a wall of thick fuzz. While it's not a boutique, point-to-point, hand-wired, all-tube machine, for what it is, it's a great little amp. Highly recommended.

  • Can you get any better than this?

As reviewed by Jacob on 6/4/2011

I had never heard of Orange amps before in my life (other than that Jimmy Page uses them) before my first trip to Guitar Center and was extreamly surprized that when I went from a very nice tube amp to this how much the Orange just killed the other tube amp. You can go from playing Buddy Holly to Led Zeppelin to Green day (if you play guitar this amp will get you the style of music you play, regardless). All things about this amp are great but the one main thing that gets me is the price. I have always been cheap when it comes to my gear so when a $150 or so amp that sounds as good as this one comes on the market, it is a must have.
