As reviewed by bob esbenshade on 3/17/2011

first off, this is a very cool little bass amp, but do not expect to gig big rooms with it. that being said, i absolutely love the tone of this amp. it reminds me of the 50watt fender bassman tone i heard the older guys playing when i was i kid. this amp is all about tone, but it does have the volume to rehearse with low level playing. you could probably use it for a jazz or low key blues is actually pretty loud and very solid sounding for 50 and a 12"speaker, but, it is the tone that i really like. with something of this ilk i recommend turning the master volume up to about 3o'clock and then get your volume to where you want it by turning up the gain. that is what works best for me. also, the single coils of my jazz bass are much cleaner and punchier than my MM or warwickHH. i think it is a little small for humbuckers to translate very well, and i am kind of a single coil guy mostly anyhow. it looks very cool and is easy to carry. like i said before, i recommend not overdriving the gain too much. i can get a very warm, round, tone with plenty of bottom and clarity with my fender jazz. my p bass sounds pretty good too. if you want a very cool little bass amp to rehearse with or play small gigs try this. if you want to get some great tone just for the sake of enjoying it, then this is a great amp for you. i gave it 4 stars rather than 5 because of the volume restrictions. great tone and value for the cost. enjoy.

  • Best amp for the price, by FAR

As reviewed by Cody on 3/29/2011

I have played quite a few bass amps, and every time I find one I like, I learn that it's several hundred dollars out of my price range. However, this bass amp changes all of that. For the amount I paid, this couldn't be a better deal. The volume is what got me, at first. It's easily enough to gig with, but I have a feeling it would play jazz and rock better than metal or grunge. Humbucker Pickups sound good through this amp, but Single coils are where this amp pays for itself. The sound and tone is PERFECT (to my ears), and I couldn't be happier with it. There are no effects built into the amp, and the gain isn't like an overdrive at all. But it goes from smooth jazz to vintage snarl that bassists LOVE, no questions :) This amp is my new favorite. Best purchase of the year.

  • Fantastic practice and recording amp

As reviewed by JOHN HILA on 11/5/2013

I just purchased this Orange Crush 50 watt amplifier, and am very pleased. I tried it out at the store (East Brunswick, NJ - Great staff!) with a MIM Jazz Bass, similar to my P Bass Special. I forgot to bring my bass, and let's face it - we all love trying out another guitar anyway. The sound quality is fantastic, from low to high volume it stays clean and articulate. Every nuance you play is picked up and broadcast with this amp. I love the basic, simple dashboard. Volume, low, mid, high and gain. A headphone out, a line out, and a mp3 input. Simplistic brilliance. Just what you need, nothing more. And it works. Easy to dial in your sound, elation as you hear clearly what you are playing, and cool, classic look of orange tolex. Perfect for practice, recording, and a small club gig. If these are your needs, and I'm sure these are the needs of 90% of us out here, this is an amp you need to test drive. For $260, it can't be beat.
