I just bought one, and immediately put my loved, though very heavy, Mesa Mark IV up for sale. This meets all my practice and gig needs, in one tiny little package! And, I will save a ton in chiropractic bills for no longer having to haul around a pound-per-watt archaic design. I play jazz, and what I want is a clean sound with lots of dynamic range. This amp has it. It gets a very nice dirty sound with the gain way up, if you want that. I play with gain at about 60%, and there it has a warm vintage clean sound with a smooth transition into dirty at the highest dynamics. Note, though, that you don't get 200 watts of clean from this amp. Maybe 40-80 watts, before the warm distortion kicks in. But, that's a real 40-80 watts, which is way more than I need for any gig I'll ever play.

Guess I was expecting to much? It's a very durable amp but to me the amp lacks tone since the treble and bass controls are on the knob control. The power doesn't seem to be near 200 watts since I have a 30 watt tube amp from GC that is louder than this amp. Plugging the amp into a 2-12 or 4-12 didn't seem to help this amp much. Guitar center does offer better potable tube amps that are louder and only rated at 30 watts. The amp cannot sound good with any distortion pedal, which is a shame because I own and tried 30 pedals. Unfortunately not one sounded good through the amp? If you want a basic solid state no frills guitar amp that has some power, this amp may right for you.

Comments about ZT Lunchbox 200W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

Priorities. If size to volume ration is yours, then this is it. Works with modeling or straight into amp if you are using single coils and just need a little grind. Tele sounds fine. Big sound for the size. Puts out about the volume of a 20watt tube amp.One unanticipated drawback is the limited extension cab options. You can get theirs for a reasonable price, but your probably looking at a 4 x12 otherwise to cover that 200w rating.
    PICK IT UP USED.
If tone to size ratio is your priority maybe for $500 you could do better for an additional 15 lb for a 20 watt tube amp.

Comments about ZT Lunchbox 200W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

I was tired of schlepping my original 65 Blackface Deluxe Reverb, so I tried this beast in Guitar Center and immediately bought the amp... It really sounded quite close to the Deluxe with less bottom end... So I contacted the manufacturer to get the Extension Cabinet - WOW... I have been using this amp as my GIG amp. I have used this amp, with the extension cab, in a 5 piece Nashville Country Group, a 7 piece Memphis R&B Group, and even in a Trio setting... I have NEVER run out of headroom or TONE... Amazing - and the pair fit in my small "roller" suitcase - snicker... Everyone always laughs until I turn it ON... Then they all want to know "WHAT IS THAT"...

Great value good for rehearsal or live

Comments about ZT Lunchbox 200W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

I got this in a Guitar Center sale for $175 and at that price it was too good not to get. I use a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe but didn't want to have to keep lugging that to band practice. The only reason I only gave it 4 stars was that I really need to use my Boss ME-70 multifx pedal modeling to get it to sound like a tube amp when I rehearse. But it does it so well. I am sure it would work great with any modeler. It is 5 stars for the value at the price I paid. I have to have the volume backed off or it would be too loud for rehearsal so I know I could use it live as a backup amp. It brought a smile to the faces of my bandmates when I first showed up with it but once they heard it they were amazed how capable it is. I have not regrets about getting this amp.

Not a good high-power backup amp

      By Chris

      from Auburn, WA

Comments about ZT Lunchbox 200W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

I have a 60-watt Sovtek tube-amp and I thought this would make a great backup. It does have plenty of power to drive my 4x12 for clean sounds, but when pushed hard with a distortion pedal it adds its own unpleasant contribution, a trebly/hissy/splattery mush. Turning down the (master) volume fixes the problem but then its not very loud compared to my tube amp. I know its not a totally fair expectation, it is after all a solid-state amp and they're not known for sounding great when cranked. But this little guy is rated to put out 130 watts RMS into 8 ohms so it should have the raw power necessary to drive my cabinet without the tone falling apart so readily.

IT WILL BE MINE. Tiny, loud and easy to haul in a small car on tour.

      By Raymond L

      from Beloit WI

Comments about ZT Lunchbox 200W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

I have seen this amp. I have played my Telecaster and a few other guitars through this amp on a few visits to various Guitar Centers. I hooked up a 212 cab to this and a Marshall 410 cab to it and played with no cab. This little amp is going to make a believer out of you. This model is a clean amp with zero reverb and zero effects. That's OK you are at Guitar Center, they got you covered and you can get effects as needed. This is one amp all guitar players should have. Take it to a rehearsal, a jam session or even on tour. If you tour with a small car you need all the room you can get and this amp is a huge space saver. Next nice thing is this amp will not break your back. Get the carry bag and you can carry that on your shoulder, grab your guitar and you are ready to go. Compact is the way to go, especially if you are the roadie. This is why this amp got my attention. I tour and i am my own roadie. I want to be able to grab all my gear and get in the venue and set up in as few moves as possible. The compact size of this amp will allow you to do this. you will not take up much space, you will be more than loud enough for any show with this amp. there are a few PA systems that you can get to add to your road rig and if you are a grab and go type of musician like I am, get one of those too. Lunchbox makes such an amp for that too. their acoustic model has a mic input. For you electric guitar this is a great amp. ZT AMPLIFIERS are great products. for you musicians that have to ride the city bus or a bicycle, get this amp. it will fit in your back pack. If you carry your guitar in a gig bag, get the ZT carry bag and sling it over your shoulder and away you go. whne you need to have a light weight rig that will fill a room get this amp for the job. IT WILL BE MINE.

      Awsome amp!

      By M J

Comments about ZT Lunchbox 200W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

I've been looking for a small, lightweight amp for quite awhile, you know, something that you don't need two people risking hernias or a hand truck just to get it on stage. I first saw this amp when I was running sound for a jazz trio and the guitar player had one of these. I kind of snickered when I saw it sitting on stage and wondered where his other amp was. He replied that this (ZT Lunchbox) was it....So I proceeded to mic it and continued on with set up. When we started sound check, I couldn't believe the tones and power that was actually coming out of this little thing. I actually had to ask him to turn it down a little so that I'd have some mixer control and could then blend it in with the rest of the instruments. At the end of the show, I was sold and decided i had to get one for myself and try it out on stage. It worked great and kept up with the other amps in the group (we play progressive rock). The big test was when I play at an outdoor beer garden for our local festival and the tone, power and ease made me a true believer and now I only bring my ZT Lunchbox. I can now carry all my gear (guitar, amp, gig bag, effects pedal) in one trip! That's been a dream and now I can keep up with the other big amps in the band and still have the ability to schlepp it around without wearing me out....... I'd recommend this to anyone....

Loud clean tone in a tiny box

      By Matthew Kaufman

      from Las Vegas, NV

Comments about ZT Lunchbox 200W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

The sound that comes from a box this small is nothing less than unbelievable. One possible complaint some users may have is that even with the gain turned way up, you need to be playing pretty loud to achieve even an overdrive; it's impossible to get it to the point that anyone would call distortion on its own. As someone who likes to control my tone via my pedalboard, however, that complaint is totally nullified. The lunchbox provides crisp, powerful cleans and takes pedals extremely well. Would highly recommend.

      Do not buy this amp....

      By jay egeler

Comments about ZT Lunchbox 200W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

Do not buy this amp if you don't want to blow your mind. Do not buy this amp if you don't want to carry around a 1000lb. tone in a 10lb. package. Do not buy this amp if you don't want to be the guy with 200 watts of power in the palm of your hand. Do not buy this amp if you don't want to be laughed out of the gig or practice until you turn it on and smile as their jaws drop and they wipe the saliva off their chins. Do not buy this amp if you don't want to be able to have your cake and eat it to. I have played or owned many amps and always been on that neverending tone search. Along with the many different situations I perform in, having an amp that can practically do it all is hard to find. I have for over 2 months run it though it's paces and can't say enough. My bigger gigs I'll use my Podxt Live, but for now I'm just using a Zoom MS50g along with a selection of guitars, Tele,Strat,Reverend,Parker Deluxe,PRS. This amp really brings the character of each alive. This weekend I ran my Strat with the Zoom and my Tritonle keyboard with a A/B splitter in a bar band and killed. My favorite run and go rig, is my Parker Deluxe, the Zoom MS50g and the Lunchbox. Folks I don't care how many amps you have or not, you have to have this one in your collection. This is a tool not a toy. This is of course you do not want to be the coolest dude on the stage.

      Tiny, LOUD amp!

      By Rick Warren

      from Hudson, NY

Comments about ZT Lunchbox 200W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

What can I say that hasn't. Been said here before? Teriffic little amplifier. Stands up well in rehearsal with my six-piece band, though probably needs to be miked for all but the smallest gigs. Can't. Wait to get the extension cabinet. Also, recommend the carry-bag, the hard plastic handle is kinda hard to grasp the gloved hands. Lightnin' Rick

      ZT Lunch Box AUSUM amplifier

      By RICK MARQUIS

      from Salem, OR

Comments about ZT Lunchbox 200W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

I went down to GC and tried out this little amp. I played several guitars through it, Gretch, Fender, Ibanez, and Gibson. I could not believe what was coming out of this little amp. I have five amps already, Fender Twin Reverb; Peavey bandit II; Marshall AS50R acoustic amp. NOTE: Fender Twin Reverb at 70 pounds, ZT lunch Box at 10 pounds! Well, my wife gave me a early Christmas present!! A ZT Lunch Box. I play it at home and last Sunday took it to Church and played my Stratocaster through it. I play electric lead there and at practice I had turn it down as it was over riding the grand piano, drums, electric bass and a keyboard. The amp had plenty of power to spare during the morning service. The tone was great. I played with my petal board, delay, reverb, etc. I go to some jam sessions around the area and now will carry my 10 pound beast with confidence. Rick
