Comments about Takamine GJ72CE G Series Jumbo Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Saw it, Wanted it, Got it, Love it. I already have a 12 string "take" and it has been a jewel so this was kind of a no brainer with the specials that Musicians Friend Runs at the holidays.

Comments about Takamine GJ72CE G Series Jumbo Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I am somewhere between a novice and someone who would be considered experienced. I have been playing a Johnson acoustic on and off for 10 years. I think that the lack luster sound and bad action has kept me from really playing a lot. In recent months, I have been using some of my electric guitars a lot more and have been playing a ton. I decided that it was time to get a nice acoustic and I stumbled upon the GJ72CE after playing about 45 others at my local music store. After I strummed only a few chords and played a scale or two, I was in love. Once I committed to the purchase, I realized that there was heavy damage on the front of the body and there was exposed wood. Unfortunately, the price shown (I was told) already reflected a discount for the gash. Well, to make a long story short, I ordered this exact guitar from Musicians Friend for significantly less than what the music store was asking and it was an open box mint. The guitar showed up and it was absolutely in mint condition. I couldn't even find evidence that the box ever was opened. Kudos to MF on that. It looks, sounds and plays beautifully and I will be playing it for years to come. Thank you MF as you really lived up to your reputation.

      Bargain for the Price

      By Daniel Rogers

Comments about Takamine GJ72CE G Series Jumbo Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

As a music pastor, I have the privilege of playing guitar nearly every day. I love trying new guitars when I have the chance, and I was pleasantly surprised with the tonal quality this jumbo delivers across the full range of lows, mids, and highs. It sounds warm and full unplugged, and the built-in TK-40D preamp carries this same quality quite well through your sound system, though it is customizable enough to give you plenty of added brightness or depth for a particular set or taste. It produces plenty of volume on its own, though the dreadnaught I use most often is still a little louder unplugged. The materials are about what you'd expect for this price range, but it feels very solid in hand, and sounds like a much more "premium" guitar. The thing that impressed me most, however, was how clean this guitar sounds, even when strumming relatively hard. If you're a rhythm guitarist, you won't struggle with this instrument sounding muddy or distorted unless you're really trying. For what I do, I highly recommend this G-series Takamine Jumbo. Yes, there are many better or comparable guitars out there - but a scant few are this affordable. For this reason, I give the GJ72CE a solid 5 stars.
