Comments about Marshall MG Series MG101CFX 100W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I have been getting back into guitar . My main amp is a peavey 20 watt VIP series ( the newer ones ) . Im finding that alot of the modeling amps , including the peavey solid state analog modeling, is pretty cruddy . You might find one good sound but the rest of the sounds arent good . I thought it was muddy pickups on my guitar but its the same on all modeling . I even tried a newer line 6 spider 5. The insane channel was good but again - cleans and crunch werent good. Modeling just sucks unless you have a axe fx.

But i digress . These marshall combos arent "killer " but they are true analog , no modeling at all ...so far. The thing is , with true analog you can dial in a variety of tones with the knobs and they represent different guitars very well. Modeling amps have that "one sound " and limit the range of your guitar . But modeling is far cheaper to make . The whole preamp tone is created in a small chip. With these they still have a normal solid state circuit . So if you want clear pure tone on a budget , these are good. Although i think the price is kinda high . Also they take pedals well . So if its a little thin ( which marshall is more about upper midrange , its no secret ) then you can put an eq in the loop and boost the lows.

Its crazy times when we have to hark back to the good old days of true analog solid state . Beginner or advanced stay away from cheap modeling . True analog anything beats modeling .

Comments about Marshall MG Series MG101CFX 100W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I've had this for a few years now and you can get some pretty good sounds out of it. The features like delay/chorus and overdrive do sound good but I prefer my Peavey Bandit 112 over this. It doesn't have those features but I use pedals anyways and it's just a much better sounding amp than this one. Save some money and get the Peavey, you're just paying for the name here

More than happy with this purchase. Nicely packaged all the way to our aircraft carrier over here in Japan. MF have stuffed up my guitar order but here was no foul play with the lovely amp they sent.

MG Series MG101CFX 100W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp

Comments about Marshall MG Series MG101CFX 100W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I am overall pleased with this amp.
One option I would change on this amp would be to put the controls on the top as opposed to being on the front.
I like the quality of this amp.
The cost of this amp for what you get is quite adequate.
