Comments about Livid Guitar Wing: Wireless Control for Guitars:

I just received my Guitar Wing and have been playing with it for a few hours. It was really easy to setup and get started using Wing FX, but I'm now using it in Ableton to control guitar effects, loop vocals, and trigger transport controls. The newest update allows guitar wing to connect to iOS devices without the wireless receiver (directly via bluetooth, no camera connector kit needed) so it's super easy to use with my iPad, and I don't have to deal with any cables. I would recommend this to anyone that uses music software and plays guitar!

BUYER BEWARE! I Became LIVID! May Throw It Away!

Comments about Livid Guitar Wing: Wireless Control for Guitars:

Gotta say, I was really looking forward to this! I got mine in August 2014 via Livid's KickStarter project because I wanted to support the effort and trusted this group knew what they were doing. With great excitement when it arrived, I set it up and plugged the "proprietary USB receiver" into my fully charged iPad Mini (via the extra required Apple "Camera" kit adaptor") - only to get the message, "CANNOT USE DEVICE LIVID GUITAR WING. The connected device requires too much power." I contacted the "tech" team there. Here is their response in full: "We've tested it on an Ipad and Iphone, and it worked. There are differences between hardware and firmware versions. What version of iPad are you using? Which firmware? You may try using a powered USB hub. You may also want to ask a Genius at Apple. They will know more specifics about the different power capabilities of each version." I can say for sure, that my iPad Mini software and firmware are all up to date. This is not the responsibility of mine to explore and purchase every possible FIXIT SOLUTION for THEIR device, which should work on my current iPad right out of the box. For me, this issue is LIVID's responsibility to their customers from the start! It is obvious that the "team" involved in developing and marketing this device never tested the unit with the entire spectrum of current and popular Apple iPads. Makes me wonder what else it doesn't work with and what else wasn't thoroughly tested before release. As with any release of a software or hardware product from a reputable vendor, I expect to see a list of compatible devices on their web site; this not to be found. As a customer, it is not my responsibility to trouble shoot their device for them. As a software engineer, I know all of this should have been thoroughly tested and vetted during and after development, NOT during the first version release of a product! This is NOT a Beta Test! All of this leads me to asking the best question, "Why didn't you build the Blue Tooth broadcaster/receiver into the Guitar Wing itself?" Instead of developing a truly efficient and universally compatible device, the user of the product is stuck with having to use the PROPRIETARY USB receiver. This is absurd when musicians' tablets and iPads are already Bluetooth enabled - even with newer Bluetooth technologies. In my opinion, while this device looks cool and it seems like a good idea (it may even work well with the right hardware and software platform), IN ITS PRESENT CONDITION IT IS A NON-STARTER! Too bad there is no ZERO stars rating available; in my opinion, this product deserves exactly that. BUYER BEWARE! You'll be testing hardware and software for a company (Livid) that didn't do it's due diligence during development, manufacturing and marketing! Makes me seriously doubt the quality and integrity of Livid's other products. I personally don't ever expect to drop another dime on Livid products to find out. BTW, I'd give it 3 stars with regard to the "fit" of the Guitar Wing on both my Strat and LP. I don't like how hard parts on the clamp touch and rub the finish; and the placement on the Strat is a challenge to get it to stay far enough away from the pickup selector lever without abrading the finish of the guitar to get it there. If you have old beater guitars, then have at it! Oh, I forgot to mention that if you want to leave the guitar charging overnight and you sleep in the same room with it, you'll have to cover it with a blanket or something because ALL of the LEDs stay lit up and never go off, not even when charged - if plugged in to re-charge.
