Overview

The S770PB is part of Ibanez's cutting-edge S Series which continues to be a marvel of form and function. Its signature body shape - sculpted, lightweight, and mahogany - is stronger and more musically responsive than guitars weighing twice as much. The S Series is still a rock 'n' roll version of a quick, graceful, and potentially lethal weapon. It has a WIzard III maple neck, Ibanez's thin, flat, and fast, yet strong and sturdy neck which offers unlimited playability for demanding players and features a two-octave 24-fret fretboard for wide tonal range. Another great feature is the Edge-Zero II Tremolo lower-profile bridge which adds to your playing comfort and has a stud lock function for more stable tuning. The S770PB's Quantum pickups provide accelerated bass response for exceptionally fast tracking of high-speed staccato riffing with crushing mid range and precise high-end articulation.

Case sold separately.

At first glance this guitar looks like any other Ibanez S series, but when you pick up this guitar you will experience first-hand what this thing can do.First off, the five-way pickup swich gives a lot of variety in tone. The neck has exremely low action so arpeggios are very easy to do and the Ibanez Zero Resistance tremolo stays in tune very well so you can pull off some insane dive bombs without having to worry about the guitar going completely out of tune.

Bought this guitar for my son who has been playing for 3 yearsseemed good in store but when we got home it had some fret buzz on the middle pickup. Once he started playing it we quickly realized that it was difficult for him to do arpedgios as the strings seemed too close to the pick ups. Also though it is nice that it is very light weight it did have a flimsy feel to it. After playing for 4 days we returned it for jackson pro soloist for a bit more money and have been very happy

Comments about Ibanez S770PB Electric Guitar:

This is my 3rd S. My first was a 470DXQM with the ZR bridge and wizard 2 neck. The second was a 420, with ZR and wizard 2 as well. The ZR is an awsome bridge one of the main reasons to play an S. By the time the edge was into'd I had bought an RGA72. Which had the edge trem. Initially I was unsure but came to feel the edge was a better bridge. So when I started planning which instruments are available for my next purchase an S is always in the running. Having playd S's and knowing the wonderful playability of the line I started looking into what is new. To my suprise the edge 2 and a wider wizard 3 neck was taking the place like an upgrade begging me to try it. To say the older setup with S hardware is something old or outdated would be wrong. For afterall as I mentioned the hardware was the whole reason to play an S. That being said I must impress pure impressive nature of the new setup. The edge 2 stays in tune and complements the pickup set installed. The wizard 3 has a flatter feel that seems to be faster the the wizard 2. All around i was very impressed by the new S. I am playing through a EVH 5150 iii 50 w head and matched cab and the clear ring of the new S is very impressive and the warm feel of the slit poplar makes this S a model not to be missed.

      Great Flexible Guitar

      By David Aly

      from Bryan, TX

Comments about Ibanez S770PB Electric Guitar:

Before I bought this guitar, I came into guitar center looking for something very flexible in terms of musical style. I play all kinds of music from jazz, classical and blues to metal and classic rock. This was by FAR the most flexible guitar I've ever played. Most of the s-series is in this regard, but i fell in love with this particular model. Great price/performance quality ratio. The Edge III tremolo system has no rival but the original Floyd Rose. Overall a very excellent guitar.

      Better than RGAs!!

      By Angel Martinez

      from Tucson

Comments about Ibanez S770PB Electric Guitar:

The Wizard III neck is close to perfection. Scales, arpeggios, chords, and tapping all feel very natural and comfortable. The Infinity pick-ups offer a very wide range of tone and voicing to any riff. My favorite feature is the locking/floating tremolo. I've played on Floyd Rose and Ibanez tremolos of different designs and this is by far my favorite. With the removable lock-bar in place, any dip or pull on the whammy bar will pull right back to perfect tone and the added tension on the entire bridge makes for the most comfortable tremolo to palm mute pick. I had a little trouble with fret buzz on the low E & A when tuned in drop-B with thicker strings, before some minimal, fast adjustments on the truss rod. The tremolo tension wheel is a tremendous tool when dropping or raising tuning. Overall fantastic MUST HAVE Ibanez!

      Awesome Guitar

      By Michael Wong

      from Boston MA

Comments about Ibanez S770PB Electric Guitar:

This is my first guitar with an oil finish on the body just like how most necks are. It's easier to walk around when playing, just like how it's easier to play fast with an oiled neck than a lacquered neck. Though this guitar isn't a neck through, the heel's contoured enough to reach the higher frets well. The nut came a little loose just like on my other non-Prestige Ibanez Ss had, so I tightened it to the neck more. Along with that, setting the truss rod, height, and intonation, this guitar now stays in tune extremely well. I still tune all my guitars every now and then though, even my S5470, a Prestige. I don't think any guitar can stay in tune perfectly, but if I don't check with a tuner, I won't notice the difference unless an adjustment was made or a string broke. The fret edges on this guitar were a little bit sharp, but I think that depends on the copy. For example. my S570DXQM - a non-Prestige - has pretty smooth frets, and a different copy of it at a Guitar Center had really sharp frets. I like the tone of this guitar just the same as my other Ss.

      Great Axe!

      By John P.

      from Turtle Creek, PA

Comments about Ibanez S770PB Electric Guitar:

I got my Ibanez S770PB delivered to my door about a week ago. I ordered it at the store so the sales rep. I talked to could get the commission. It came in perfect condition (packed in three different boxes) and was set up great right out of the box. I did lower the action a little but haven't had to touch anything else on it. It is very comfortable to play, sounds terrific through my Line^ SpiderIII and looks like a million bucks! The only reason I didn't give this a 5th star, was because the selector switch needed "broke in" to stay in the neck PU position. After using it for a week, all is good. I was going to replace the switch, but it fixed itself. The neck/middle position is amazing sounding with a clean channel and some chours effect. Has that quacky, strat sounding tone. The bridge PU is powerful and rich sounding. I mainly play Metal and this guitar is a shredding machine! The jumbo frets and neck profile makes this guitar practically play itself. I have an Iby RG4EX series guitar and this was the perfect upgrade. I still love the RG, but the trem on the S series is so sweet! The zero point is a peice of art when it comes to trems. Smooth, easy to adjust, and quality all the way through. I would highly recommend this guitar to anyone. I paid more for my Am. Std. Strat, and it doesn't hold a candle to the Ibanez. Sorry Fender. I never thought I would ever purchase a non-American made guitar, but the folks at Ibanez are producing quality instruments at great prices.

The most Versatile and Comtorable guitar ive ever player

      By Mason

      from Seattle, Washington

Comments about Ibanez S770PB Electric Guitar:

This guitar sounds good on clean and distorted, or anything in between. i play metal and blues. stuff ranging from Disturbed and Dethklok to Joe Satriani and Steve Vai. The fret board is smooth and how the neck is cut makes it easy for anyone to hit any notes they want. The tremelo system is a new design and the best ive ever played. i over use the bar like crazy. NOT ONCE has this guitar went out of tune. and ive only broken strings with it when they started to get old. this is the best guitar ive ever played. it gets great sound and it is 110% reliable. id recomend this to any guitar player.

      Amazing quality, great sound

      By Mike B

      from Mesa, AZ

Comments about Ibanez S770PB Electric Guitar:

I first went to the store to pick this up, and when I played it, I felt like I was actually a musician. The penta-pickup switch gives it amazing tone for whatever music you play (which for me is Dream Theater), and it can hit harmonics, pinch and natural, incredibly well. The neck is faster than anything I've ever played on, and the natural wood grain finish is beautiful. Only one problem is that the guitar buzzes on a few frets due to the low action, but since I am going to try to play faster, I leave it alone. It doesn't mess with the tone if you're going through an amp. Otherwise, it seems perfect.
