Comments about Gibson Les Paul Tribute 2018 - Solid Body Electric Guitar:

As a full-time pro musician (retired from gigging after 41 years) I was curious as to how this model stacked up to the many Les Pauls I've owned and played over the years. It's the real deal. They've saved you a ton off the price of American craftsmanship by simply not binding the neck and body or giving all those extra coats of lacquer, but the weight, feel and sound of the instrument remains true to its legacy. Well done Gibson. Lowered the action myself a bit without any fret buzz, so they may be rushing with the final setup or using newer trainees, but this is minor stuff. You don't need to send production overseas when management gets creative and figures out a way to keep American workers busy by offering loyal customers a beautiful, high quality, affordable American instrument without all the bells and whistles. Thanks for an excellent guitar!

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Tribute 2018 - Solid Body Electric Guitar:

Ok, I sold all of My Gibson's 10 years back...just went crazy with their pricing, and the quality was heading south. Replace them with Epiphones ( which are all wonderful) But then yesterday, My "Dealer" known as a "Sales Associate" let Me know that one of these had arrived, and I went to the store and played it. SOunds like a MUCH older and expensive instrument! Fit and finish are perfect...not good...PERFECT! The case is an amazing piece of gear in itself, half way between case and gig bag, brown pleather, and robust.
Gibson has done something to earn folk's trust (dollars) and today they got mine! I haven't played a Gibson of this quality in a very, very long time!
So far , I have played theis through a Fender Super Champ XS, a Tweed Blues Jr, a Black Face Deluxe Reverb, and a Marshall 3203 Artist head and 4 x 10 cabinet.....It is wonderfully consistent in tones,,,also included is case candy a LEATHER Gibson branded strap wrenches, allen key polishing cloth, the poker chip (nice get) and even a color pic of My guitar on the exam bench. The inspection card is signed by the Tech who performed the checks.....talk about impressed, I am.
The are having a party in Nashville, and Gibson is setting the pace!

Great guitar, but no free setup. :(

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Tribute 2018 - Solid Body Electric Guitar:

The guitar is a 5* for sure. I ordered it online and picked it up in store. That was also flawless. However, it had high frets and bad intonation -- from the factory -- and GC and when I asked about it, I was told they would set it up... for a price. That was pretty weak. Even the local mom-pop shop will do a free setup with guitar purchase. So if you're looking for more personal service, try the local shops. If you just want to get the guitar and get out quick , use GC. Not a bad thing, really.

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Tribute 2018 - Solid Body Electric Guitar:

I like electrics that "speak" with a loud voice when unplugged, and this one has it in spades. You can really feel the bodyguard reverberate when you play it. It sings. The pickups hold a really wide variety of electric interpretations of the guitar's outstanding voice - from biting to a buttery smooth Clapton-y "woman tone". Large variety of clean sounds from jazzy round to sparkling clean. And the punchy pickups overdrive beautifully. Yep, it's the undeniably forceful classic Les Paul rock tone. This is my new favorite electric guitar. (I have a lot of nice guitars).

Comments about Gibson Les Paul Tribute 2018 - Solid Body Electric Guitar:

This was my first Gibson purchase. The finish is amazing. Both the gold top and the honey burst look great in person and I had a hard time choosing which one I wanted because they both played so well, but I ended up getting the honey burst.

The case is great and even though the poker chip was not installed you do get one in the case should you choose to install it later.

As far as playing, the neck feels great. Both clean and dirty the guitar sounds crisp and bright. Roll some volume and tone off for some good jazz or blues licks.

My two gripes are that there are no locking tuners and the finish selection is limited. But really those gripes don't affect playability at all too much.
