The undeniably crushing sound of Alice in Chains' Jerry Cantrell has sent countless guitar players on a quest to achieve his signature tone. Dave Friedman has captured lightning in a bottle in the form of the Friedman JJ-100, a collaboration between Friedman and Jerry Cantrell. This limited edition white/ivory tolexed head was signed by Jerry Centrell himself. The back panel signature is protected by a plexi-glass cover.
The JJ-100 is a 100-watt, two channel, EL34 powered beast that takes no prisoners. Saturated, complex, harmonic overtones create a tight response to assure no notes are lost over the full spectrum. These features are paired with AC30-like cleans and an ultra dynamic response to right hand attack, beautifully recreating Cantrell's iconic Seattle sound.
Jerry Cantrell and Dave Friedman spent years perfecting the JJ-100. This is Cantrell's first ever signature amp, so he went to the best. The hand crafted in USA head utilizes tongue and groove Baltic Birch construction and is built to withstand the rigors of the road.

Comments about Friedman Jerry Cantrell Signature 100W Tube Guitar Head White Tolex:
What's amazing about this particular amplifier is that is has 3 very distinct sounds on it that are all useable and sonorous. The JBE channel on this is able to get all of the brutal metal tones one could want (okay, maybe not djent and the more extreme death metal, but who cares?). The BE sounds are like an aggressively-voiced Marshall, somewhere between a dimed Plexi and a JCM800. The big surprise on this amp is the clean channel, and just how useable and flexible it is. I, myself, NEED a good clean channel on an amp that represents the sound of the guitar very well, as well as provides me with a good platform for pedals. This JJ100 does all of the above. If I want to play some U2 with a delay, the clean channel delivers. If I want to tune down to B and play Rob Zombie or Slipknot, this amp delivers. Chili Peppers? This amp's got you covered. Ambient soundscapes a-la Brian Eno or Kevin Shields? This amp takes pedals like a champ. Perhaps the metal-only crowd might like the extra gain on the Butterslax, but this amp gets PLENTY of gain. Besides, with an EQ, compressor, and Tube Screamer in front of the amp, this amp's JBE channel can get BRUTAL. I was also really surprised by how quiet the high gain channel is when I'm not playing. Unlike the modern Marshalls or Orange amps, the Friedman did not lay my sound down onto a bed of hiss and hum. With a noise gate, this thing is deadly quiet; without one, it's still pretty darn quiet.
It's definitely an expensive amp, but it really is worth it. I've owned Marshalls, Orange Amps, Vox Amps, Fenders, Hiwatts, Mesa Boogies, and this Friedman really is as amazing as any amp I've ever owned.
