Great Bass, It's got the funk!

By Ryan

from Boston, MA

Comments about Fender Standard Precision Bass Guitar:

Why are you reading this? Go buy it! Fine, since you're really not sure: First off, it plays great. Whoever said p-basses are limited tonally, that's definately not true. The craftsmanshi[ is sturdy, I won't be needing to get another bass anytime soon. And my favorite part is that it keeps the 50's funk alive, except now you can mix it in with rock and get a good grind thing too. So overall, 10/10. GO BUY IT!

Great Bass!

By Rich

from Ney York,NY

Comments about Fender Standard Precision Bass Guitar:

I have a collection of many other basses- most are high end but this Fender plays and sounds great! For the price of this bass you get the Fender growl, and the craftsmanship is great. Does not go out-of-tune, and has nice fretboard action. My only comment is that the volume and tone pots could have been a bit better, I think they will probably wear out first, but hey, easy enuff to replace! All in all high marks for this bass, definitely consider one for your "toolbox"!

It's a Fender, what else can I say...

By R.S. Hurley

from Greenwood, IN

Comments about Fender Standard Precision Bass Guitar:

This bass guitar has great tone and has got punch! There isn't one note on this thing that doesn't bring tone and clarity. The action is perfect and the overall sound is amazing. I run it through my Sans Amp DI, and then through my Gallien Kruger 700RBII/4x10 cab and the rest is history. What you get for the price is incredible...Don't pass it up!

Great Bass!!!

By devon from california

from California

Comments about Fender Standard Precision Bass Guitar:

This bass is awesome, I got the sunburst with the maple neck and it looks great and plays great as well. The only I would recommend would be to change the strings because they produce a rattling kind of sound, but work pretty good with slapping. Other than that this bass stays in tune very well and is just an overall good bass.

Mexican Precision?

By Skreal

from Austin, Texas

Comments about Fender Standard Precision Bass Guitar:

Other than looking at the head stock, I'm not sure how to tell as to whether this is the Mexican made Fender or not... The Mexican Fender Precision I've experienced has Some of the best sounding pickups I've heard; suitable for recording with almost no EQ at all, which is unusual for stock pickups. Playability of the neck and fret intonation are excellent. Overall, this instruments offers a wonderful sounding combination of pickups and choice of wood. Though some versions of the Fender Precision may have more robust hardware, the tonal color along with excellent playability make this bass a great axe. I don't know how much of these qualities are up to chance, whether all recent Mexican Precisions are up to these standards, but it's definitely worth a try! Enjoy!

Awesome Bass!

By Jason

from El Dorado Hills, CA

Comments about Fender Standard Precision Bass Guitar:

I got this bass for christmas in 2008 and i loved the sound as soon as i plugged it in. I got the chrome red color with a rosewood fretboard. Its a very simple bass with one volume and tone knob and a single coil pickup. This bass stays in tune very well. You may need to adjust the height of the bridge saddles and the height of the pickups to your playing style and you may need to adjust the truss rod later on. But no biggie. I've had this bass for 7 months and I haven't had any problems except my volume knob fell off but all you need is a screw driver to put it on. I upgraded some parts to this bass a few months later. I put on a Fender white pearloid pickguard (not really an upgrade but looks wicked cool), Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky Bass Strings, and Seymour Duncan Basslines SPB-3 pickups. I would definately recommend this bass to a beginner or intermediate player. Don't ask questions. Get out out there and buy this Fender bass!

A real bass!

By Oscar

from Van Nuys California

Comments about Fender Standard Precision Bass Guitar:

This is a real bass and i feel like its not a begginer's kind. I started playing with some of the cheap ibanez and a washburn, all under $200, but once I picked this one up I felt like I was wasting my time and from that moment on I became a bass player who actually enjoys playing. This bass is really well made it has quality and great sound, the only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because sometimes I feel like its not loud enough compared to the american made ones, but the tone and the feeling is actually about the same compared to those americans. If you want to upgrade from cheap to a real bass but you are in a tight budget, this is the one.

Cool Bass!

By J the man

from Mason, OH

Comments about Fender Standard Precision Bass Guitar:

I really like the sound this bass makes. It produces a clear, "twangy" sound that is great for newbies. A good bass for light rock. It is very easy for anyone to pick it right up and play. A great choice for first- time players.

Who love black R&B

By Fernandez

from Chicago Illinois

Comments about Fender Standard Precision Bass Guitar:

James Jamerson's double bass was a German upright acoustic bass that he bought as ateenager amd later used on such Motown hits as "My Guy" by Mary Wells and "(Love is Like a) Heat Wave" by Martha and the Vandellas. The electric bass Jamerson played was a stock 1962 Fender Precision Bass which was dubbed "The Funk Machine." Jamerson bought it after his first Precision (a gift from fellow bassist Horace "Chili" Ruth) was stolen. It had a threetone sunburst finish, a tortoise-shell style pickguard, and chrome pickup and bridge covers. He typically set its volume and tone knobs on full. This instrument was also stolen, just days before Jamerson's death in 1983. To date, it has not been found.

Great

By bassman19

from Cass City

Comments about Fender Standard Precision Bass Guitar:

This bass is extremely well built. Don't let anyone fool you, mexican standard instruments are extremely good, they sound very similar to their american cousins. I haven't gotten around buying this bass yet but I know its a good choice. This instrument is most appropriate for rock/punk/pop genres more then anything. But funk and jazz don't sound that bad on this bass either. Looks great in a white finish and black pickguard for sure. All around great tone that every bass player needs.

Perfect bass for anything.

By Zeke

from Grandville, MI

Comments about Fender Standard Precision Bass Guitar:

I bought this bass around a year ago and it keeps getting better over time. I upgraded the pickups to Seymour Duncan Quater pounders and it only made a slight better difference if I plug it into a top of the line, loud amp compared to the stock pickups. I usually play this for my church and get a warm smooth tone with the tone knob turned town quite a bit. But if I'm at home playing with friends I turn the tone up, mess with the EQ a bit, and I'm getting the clearest most punchy tone I've ever heard. Once you find the right strings you want, you can tone this bass to any sound by just that one tone knob. Great bass.

Great Bass--after setup

By Casey

from Plantation, Fl.

Comments about Fender Standard Precision Bass Guitar:

So I was a little disappointed when I first got my new arctic white/maple P-Bass. I had to special order it because the store didnt have it in stock. So it finally came and I pulled it out of the box hoping to play it. But the bass was literally unplayable the setup was so bad. The action was so low that the strings were dead the whole way up the fret board. Now I doubt climate change could affect the bass that much. But after a good setup the bass is awesome. Plays great, sounds great, and looks awesome. What else can you ask for? Besides better quality control. The guy who setup the bass said he's never seen a guitar or bass so bad right out of the box.

The Legend Lives

By Blues Bassist

from St. Paul, Minnesota

Comments about Fender Standard Precision Bass Guitar:

I bought one of these legends today and wow! I got the Sunburst finish with the rosewood fingerboard, and it looks great. The pickup is solid and sounds great. I play it through my Fender Rumble 100 amp and it sounds just like a bass sould. I play blues and folk and this bass fills all of my needs. You can't go wrong with this bass, go buy it today.

Excellent Bass

By Carl

from Dallas Texas

Comments about Fender Standard Precision Bass Guitar:

I went to GC yesterday to buy a Sterling Musicman Stingray. I had my mind almost made up. I wanted to play the P bass, since I've read so many good things about them. I first played the Sterling, and then grabbed the P bass. From the moment I play the first two notes, I knew it was the one. This bass has true sound without the distortion. I knew the sound I was looking for, I just didn't know which bass could give it. The P bass is a great buy. I've played the more expensive basses on the market, but this bass has great sound. I'm so thankful that I took my time to search for the right bass this time. I don't think I'll ever need another brand of bass guitar. The Fender P Bass Rocks!!!!!!!!!!

By william munson

from Denham Springs, louisiana

Comments about Fender Standard Precision Bass Guitar:

Oh, i dont know where to start. All i know is that this is an all around great bass. My favorithe thing about it was that when i went to guitar center to get it it play great straight out the box! All that needed to be done when i got home with it was adjust the bridge sadddles, check the neck curve, tune, and i got that great Fender sound i was expecting. It looks great, plays great, and is just an overall great bass.

Very nice sounding and looking bass guitar

By Glen

from Long Island

Comments about Fender Standard Precision Bass Guitar:

I have had this for a few days and so far its perfect. Out of the box I had to adjust the action a little because it was too low for my liking, but after that a few other tweaks it plays amazing. I love the look and the weight of the guitar. The stock pickup which I feared might be noisy, is not noisy at all and has plenty of power. The neck has a nice smooth feel and is the perfect thickness for me. The stock strings feel great too and I won't need to replace them right away. Overall very satisfied, I think this is going to be my main bass for a while!
