Overview

Introducing the American Standard Stratocaster HSS Shawbucker. For the purest and most powerful HSS sound, Fender enlisted acclaimed humbucking pickup guru Tim Shaw to create a brand-new bridge pickup of unrivaled tone and quality. Shaw's expertise dates far back to his work with the first and biggest names in the history of humbucking pickup design, and the result of his efforts-the "Shawbucker" humbucking pickup-is an electrifying new landmark in Fender pickup design.

Shaw's handiwork makes the American Standard Stratocaster HSS Shawbucker aformidable new instrument for guitarists who want the ultimate in modern humbucking tone. The model is made even more forceful by the added innovation of a dual 250K/500K volume potentiometer, which optimizes the tonality of each pickup switch setting by automatically running the Shawbucker bridge pickup at 500K for greater openness and brilliance, while the neck and middle pickups run at 250K for spine-tingling single-coil sparkle. Along with all the other great American Standard Stratocaster HSS features players already love, it's a truly phenomenal new Strat experience.

Comments about Fender American Standard Stratocaster HSS Shawbucker Rosewood Fingerboard Electric Guitar:

Really the best Strat I have.
I never used the bridge only pick up (first position) on my American standard......it's too ice picky and shrill for my ears.
This new axe is now in my Strat collection and has an awesome unique pick up in the bridge.
And the 2 position sounds like my standard with a very slight roundness that sounds great....
the perfect Strat for every gig...

Comments about Fender American Standard Stratocaster HSS Shawbucker Rosewood Fingerboard Electric Guitar:

Like the 22nd fret. It's needed for modern songs.
I especially like the strat for surf guitar, Fender rules there. I still like the sound of my Gretsch better for base string songs and classic rock songs. Love the Bordeaux color although I'm not fond of metallic. Quality is excellent.

Comments about Fender American Standard Stratocaster HSS Shawbucker Rosewood Fingerboard Electric Guitar:

After evaluating Stratocasters for a while I was itching to get time with one of these after seeing them on the NAMM reports. Stopped by my local GC just to look and one had come in that day. After a few minutes through a Hot Rod Deluxe I decided to purchase. As the guitar had just been pulled from the box I was amazed at the setup, the action and intonation were spot on, all I had to do was tune up. The Fat 50s are definitely vintage with some extra lows, not as hot as say a TX Special but not bad. You can definitely get a nice blues out of phase sound or hollow sounding lead. The dual pot and Shawbucker are truly the key though right? The pickup is like a PAF but brighter. With minimal or no gain it almost sounds bell-like or at least as much as a "humbucker" can. It's very bright and not that hot but when you add a substantial amount of gain it becomes a pick-harmonic players dream. Yet even with a lots of gain individual notes ring out. So far I've played through a few different tube and modeling amps and thus far the guitar is at home with everything from Jazz or Metal. The guitar and pickup respond very well to your amp leaving you open to color the sound you want. If you want high gain and lots of bass you can get that sound, if you want a more classic Steely Dan type or even that quack, it's there. As many of my more recent guitars have had very thin necks I wondered how the "modern C" profile would feel. It's not a speed neck but it's much smaller than the old ones and the radius, while somewhat curved, feels great, the neck itself just feels good in your hand, very sturdy and the satin finish is very smooth. The rosewood is some of the best I have seen, it's actually more beautiful than what's on some of the more expensive guitars from the US and Japan. It's also worth noting that whatever was added to the trem block makes a definite difference. I have a big block in one of my locking trems and the Strat can easily sustain as long if not longer. My first guitar was one of the first Squire Strats in the early 80s but I haven't owned a Stratocaster since then. Fender has won over a new customer with this guitar. It plays amazing, can get a myriad of tones and was stage ready almost out of the box. I would feel comfortable playing this guitar anywhere. If you are considering a workhorse of a guitar to play multiple genres like almost every working musician has to do, this is it. Definitely check it out, I think you will agree.
