Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay 5 5-String Bass Guitar:

Music Man instruments are known for their amazing quality and these basses do not disappoint. I got my first Music Man in 2010 and have bought probably around 20 since then. None have disappointed. The Stingray 5 H is by far my favorite 5 string bass made. Very comfortable to play and has amazing tone. I have used them in both live settings for all different venue sizes to recording work in multiple recording studios and they do not disappoint. Ernie Ball Music Man basses are also very versatile and tough. In almost 7 years of owning all of mine, I am yet to ever have a single problem with any of them.

    Musicman still delivers

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay 5 5-String Bass Guitar:

I was playinng a 1997 stingray 5 with rosewood fretboard and thought the newer gear could never measure up to the older gear. I was wrong. I upgraded both bass and amp and was blown away by the quality. I went to a maple fretboard on a new stingray 5. Better action, crisper highs, faster action, better tonal range on the electronics. I sold my 97 and put my custom built unit back in its case. Even though dealing with the manufacturer is not always pleasant, the stingray basses are second to none

    It's the one!!!!!

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay 5 5-String Bass Guitar:

This bass is simply amazing. I have owned my Stingray 5 for close to a month and it is just a joy to play. I choose the black on black Stingray with a maple board. It arrived very quickly. This bass comes with a very nice hard-shell case with a lot of storage space, a sample of the Ernie Ball Wonder Wipes (one string cleaner wipe, a fretboard conditioner wipe, and an instrument polish wipe), a set of keys, and some Ernie Ball and Musicman stickers. It took me almost a week before I could play it because I would open the case and just stare at it and smile. Much to my surprise this bass together with the coil selector switch and the three band EQ provides so much versatility. This Stingray 5 has plenty of growl and punch for days. The fingerboard provides the player with a nice, comfortable, "middle of the road" string spacing at 17.5 mm. There is plenty of room to move around for slapping and other techniques. The unfinished neck feels so good and comfortable in your hands that many players will feel right at home. The bass weighs in at right around ten pounds. Some may find this to be too heavy, while the readers who have owned and played Warwick basses will find a bit of relief. This bass has excellent build quality and the company has great customer service. This bass is perfect from top to bottom and the player can dial in any tone desired. If you are seeking a high end five string and are seeking excellent quality and playability, you can not go wrong with Musicman. Check one out today.

    Best Bass Ever

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay 5 5-String Bass Guitar:

I bought this bass from Guitar Center two years ago. I have been playing bass for over 17 years and have owned a lot of gear. I play in a regional band that plays every weekend, so this bass has had some use. It's been in the frigid cold, the sweltering heat, been sweated on, lightly rained on, fallen off it's stand, etc. Reliability? Check. As far as tone, there isn't a better bass in my opinion. This bass growls. And when you hit that B-string, you're bringing the thunder. It's got an active on-board pre-amp that's off the chain. And easy to change the battery-you just open the battery door on the back and put a new one in-no tools required. Easy truss-rod adjustments too. As far as playability, I love it. Smooth neck, good "sweet-spot" pick-up placement, high-quality bridge. You can buy a higher-end bass and it won't even come with a hard-shell case. The case alone is worth $140, and worth every penny. Trust me on that one...

    Excellent bass

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay 5 5-String Bass Guitar:

I know a guy who has a $5000. bass from a guitar company that endorsed him. But he told me he likes his Fender Jazz deluxe better. Im just saying, no bass is perfect. This Musicman Stingray 5 I just got from GC is not perfect either. I think it's better than any bass I have ever owned in my 11 years of hacking. I had a buzz noise out of my rig that stopped when I used this bass. My rig buzzed with my Fenders and Lakland. That Stingray 5 is dead quiet. I was using 2 Avatar SB112 cabs with my other basses. With this MM bass I only need one. I bought the bass used from GC. I went to my local Ernie Ball dealer, he called up the company (Ernie Ball)and gave them my basses serial # , they had my basses complete profile color mfg date body wood preamp fretboard etc. Impressive. The best bass I ever owned! Thanks Guitar Center!

    best tone!

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay 5 5-String Bass Guitar:

When I got this bass I was looking for a very high end bass to play and kinda show off to my guitar and bass playing friends they all wanted me to get a warwick because everyone else was. So I went to guitar center to look for a warwick and I saw this bass-it was beautiful so I played it and it has the greatest feel and tone of any bass I've heard in my life! It has a great maple neck that just feels amazing, the humbucker(s) are great and before even looking at more warwicks I just bought this bass (and I wasn't even going to buy a bass that day. Now I've had it a few months and I've no problems its only getting better!

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay 5 5-String Bass Guitar:

I've been playing bass for 25+ years and never quite got the sound I wanted through "other" basses. Always had issues through the mixer. Then I tried the Stingray at the store and fell in love with it. Set up perfect from the factory and it came with a hard shell case. I purchased it and waited for the moment when I could play it live. It was awesome! No more sound issues, powerful tone, versatility with the EQ's, sounded great with a pick, or fingers, or slapping. I am sold on EB and this bass.

    the one

    By calaverasgrande

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay 5 5-String Bass Guitar:

It's not as flashy looking as some other basses. But it delivers tone in spades. If you can't make this bass sound good, then you need lessons man! The coil switch takes a little getting used to. The series and parallel options are not stark differences but they are definitely two different flavors. The bridge is solid as hell. The action on mine is about the best action on any bass I have every played. And well, I have been playing for about 25 years. If you think you can get a better deal on a bass made in the USA, good luck. This is it. Made in the USA by Ernie Ball, a company still run by Sterling Ball. A man who new and worked with Leo Fender. I'm saving for an olive gold with maple neck right now. The only real downside to these basses is A-kinda heavy, but if you are a bassist you know the game. B-Some amps/effects are plain flattened by the active output. About all the claims that a Warwick would be a better bass for the money. Well if that is what you want, go for it. Besides, don't those come in gig bags? If I spend a G on a bass it better come with a case!

    My favorite by far

    By Hereford

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay 5 5-String Bass Guitar:

With 35 years as an audio engineer for thousands of live concerts, Music Man was one of the few basses that impressed me. When you hook this bass to a direct box and walk out to the mixing console, you can count on it sounding like a bass and cutting through the mix, without having to tweak on any E.Q. . I never had a bad experience with Music Man. Some of the most popular basses out there sound good, and sweet tone at the amp, but when you try to put them together with the rest of a rythm section, they fall short on definition. Not many musicians consider the overall sound of the band when selecting there gear, but the ones that do are more succsessfull.

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay 5 5-String Bass Guitar:

I've been playing my Stingray 5 for a couple months now, bought brand new. The title says it all, this thing sounds awesome. My band-mates immediately noticed a difference in my sound and playing, and I agree completely. I had a much thicker, syrupy, rich, beautiful sound compared to my old Ibanez 5-string. Not to mention the action and EQ features make for a bass that's much easier to play and adjust to get the tone you're looking for. Nice work Ernie Ball!
