The Billy Sheehan Signature Drive pedal was developed by EBS in close co-operation with Billy himself. It is based on the concept of mixing together a clean signal with a distorted to be able to preserve low frequencies and find balance between distortion and definition.

Built-in Compressor
The option to add compression makes it possible to keep the note differentiation clearly audible even at heavily distorted sounds. There are three modes for the built-in compressor; High, Mid and Off. For the Mid setting, there's an additional trim pot inside to set the level. There's also a trim pot to set the Threshold for the compressor.

Clean Loop, Drive Loop - Endless possibilities!
The Billy Sheehan Signature Drive offers unlimited pre-post mix tone shaping by including a clean loop and a drive loop. It lets the user insert any other effect they wish within each loop to create your own signature effect! For example, connect an external EQ to the Drive Loop and shape the character of the distortion any way you want, or turn off the built-in compressor if you prefer to use a different type of compressor and put in the Clean Loop.

With the new extended size box from EBS, there are controls for Drive (gain for the overdrive engine), Tone (sets the frequency scoop for the drive), Level (sets level for drive channel post Drive Loop and pre final compressor) and Clean (sets level for the clean channel, post Clean Loop and pre final compressor).

Comments about EBS Billy Sheehan Signature Bass Pedal:

This is my favorite pedal from EBS because it sounds great and has so many useful features. I use this pedal for all of my rock shows because unlike a lot of distortion effect pedals you don't lose your clean bottom end frequency with this one. This pedal is a two channel pedal with one being clean and having its own level control and one being distorted with its own level control. There is also a drive control so you can alter the amount of distortion and a tone control so you can shape the tone of the distortion. There is also a built in compressor so you can control the clean signal, you have the option of choosing low or high compression or no compression at all. The last great feature this pedal has is an effect loop for the distorted channel so you can blend in any other type of effect with the distortion, such as a chorus or delay. The clean channel also has its own effect loop and you can also blend in any effect you want on the clean signal such as a EQ or a octave or compressor. Great pedal and highly recommend it to anyone who plays rock or metal.

we call it the angry tube amp pedal

    By Thomas

Comments about EBS Billy Sheehan Signature Bass Pedal:

This thing is insane. It brings out the growl of a tube amp and doesn't lose anything. I didn't think my jazz bass deluxe could sound any better and even the old cheap Washburn headless and the generic Samick even sound amazing. It even brought out the high end on the bottom heavy Warwick $$ mud machine. Playing in basically a power trio, I've been looking to fill in the volume drop when the guitar solos. I've tried using distortion pedals, the overdrive on my GK amp and bought the Fishman Fission Bass pedal and nothing comes anywhere close to this. The only time I turn it off is for quiet songs or songs requiring a lot of dymanics. Currently I'm just running from the pedal to an Ashley bass preamp into the PA and it sounds incredible. The only regret I have is not having before the Winery Dogs show so I could have told Billy how amazing this thing is.

    Awesome pedal but..

    from Springfield, OR

Comments about EBS Billy Sheehan Signature Bass Pedal:

This is the first pedal I've ever owned. I've been playing bass for 11 years and I highly recommend that this be one of the first pedals you purchase. To have the clean and distortion effect all in 1 pedal is quite amazing. The only thing I want to emphasize is that if you get this thing, buy a power supply with it. Because with the built-in compression in addition to the clean and distortion, not to mention what ever else you add in the clean and drive loops, the battery will run dry really fast and as the battery dies, the effects slowly but noticeably loose their punch. Plus its a pain to have to keep changing the battery as you have to remove the 4 screws at the bottom of the base with a screw driver to get to it.

    Perfect for rock bass!

    By Ian Caraballo Grillasca

    from San Juan, PR

Comments about EBS Billy Sheehan Signature Bass Pedal:

This pedal is perfect for a precision bass and a modern amp! The trick is to set the basic clean Bass tone where it has a nice, full range without tweeter blasting hiss and start adding the drive from the pedal. You can make a modern solid hybrid amp sound like a killer tube 8X10 amp overdriven without spending thousands of dollars or breaking your back. The tone knob lets you dial the perfect frequency that you want to affect with distortion which by the way can be from a mild creamy level to full fuzz! It is important to understand, that because it is the same signal being split and mixed together in the pedal, when you increase the drive volume, you may loose some of the bottom end. You fix it by increasing the volume on the clean knob and it returns. So start with the clean knob as close as possible to the same volume as it is without the pedal engaged. The internal compressor is very good, it will bring out the tone and every nuance you do in the Bass without making it boomy. You can open the pedal and adjust how much compression you want in the "mid" setting but mine came with the perfect adjustment from the factory so, no need to open mine. I use a 800 watt amp with a 4X10 w Tweeter and now it has character!
