Great Amp

By GILBERT BELTRAN _

from Chula Vista California

Comments about Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 Bass Amp Head:

This amp is really light weight, great voicing and has lots of headroom. This is a great amp, is the best out there. The sound is phenomenal, and even thought is only 500 watts is really loud. Did I mention that is loud? I use it with an aguilar gs 412 cab and its a perfect match, great lows (tons of bass), mids and highs, everything is there. The drive control is also a great addition to the amp, which gives a vintage vibe, and overdriven sound. The amp is really simple to use. The DI sounds great too.

No comparison,

Comments about Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 Bass Amp Head:

I had the hardest time deciding on a new bass head. Mostly because at this price point I was considering the Tone Hammer or the GK mb800. I am very glad I went with this amp. Most amps have their own color they ad to your sound, GK gives it a bright in your face upper mid range bite which is great for some music, but hard to tame without drastic EQ. The Tone Hammer on the other hand is VERY full and warm, but if you want it, it will give you that same aggression. The controls look basic, but give you amazing control, they are very responsive. Just a great all around amp! Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

Best Non-Tube Amp in the world

By walter capehart

from Nashville TN

Comments about Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 Bass Amp Head:

I have owned the TH500 for about a year now...nothing but love. It POUNDS, and travels like a feather. Amazing tone and clarity. More than adequate EQ, that does what the knob says. I love to push the "Drive to about 2 O'clock" and let her run. 4 pounds is awesome, but best of all is the consistent durability of this product. Night after night, she will deliver everything you want. I use it for Studio, great balanced out! Love it for stage. You will be heard.

Comments about Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 Bass Amp Head:

It doesn't come with a user-serviceable fuse. The amp blew out on a gig with faulty electricity. I looked for a fuse -- none to be found but my guitar's player amp had a fuse and it was saved. I called the CEO of the company, he gave me his song and dance about the technology used in these amps -- I didn't buy his song and dance. Bottom line, I want my amp to work and to be saved by a fuse that cost less than dollar. I thought this would never happen to me where I needed a fuse to save me and it wasn't there. This little fuse not being there cost me $700 -- I tried telling that to the CEO -- again -- I heard his song and dance. Look for a fuse before buying an amp -- fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice, shame on you.

    Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 Review

    By David

    from Eastman, Georgia

Comments about Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 Bass Amp Head:

I purchased the TH500 solely based on the light weight and Aguilar's great reputation. I have been gigging with their cabs (GS112) for years. What a pleasant surprise when test the TH. Great tone. Useful, flexible EQ section, and the Drive function. Despite it's small size and weight, this is a very well built unit. Typical Aguilar quality. I purchased this head as a lightweight rehearsal alternative, but as good as it sounds and with the flexibility, it will be seeing some gigs! At my first rehearsal with the TH500, it worked perfectly. I tried several different setting of EQ and Drive and the tone was amazing. We do a variety of songs and the TH500 covers them easily. I wold highly recommend this head!

Comments about Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 Bass Amp Head:

This has been the most useful bass amp I've owned. I have tried adding other amps to the collection but I just keep coming back to this one. If you play finger style bass and like a little grunt in the mix this is a real winner. I don't think it is well suited for slap tones personally. It's not a hifi amp at all.. but it has that growl and it is loud. It is perfect for rock, country, motown.. etc. I run an Fbass - th500 - bergantino cab and the tone is just the best thing I have ever experienced. I highly recommend this amp.

Amazing powerful sound from a tiny package. Plenty of 'fatness' in the tone. Love the ability to vary the frequency midpoint of the other controls; this gives tremendous flexibility to the tone. Sleek, handsome styling.
