I love this Head,I bought it for back up,on top of that I had experienced many shows in my teen years with a 4x10 Acoustic combo that blasted. So there is a history I have with [acoustic] that motivated me to buy this. It's intended as a back up amp or if my main rig is not at home with me,or I might use it with the band at rehearsals. I'de like to use it at a show, thats how much I like this novel light weight head. I wish this head existed when I was a low on funds teenager. For this price anyone new to playing would enjoy this amp. Pros: Light weight, nice Lead channel ,thick distortion with mid scoop and high gain, but can be adjusted for different styles.Mid scoop in or out, I'm sure anyone can find a sound that works for them. Nice clean channel, although both Lead and Rythm Channels share the same EQ it some how works out and is doable with some experimentation. The BIG CON: WHY on earth did this Amp not come with a simple 2 button chan/effects ON/OFF footswitch. After Much research , wanting an ECONOMY footswitch for an ECONOMICAL back-up/practice amp I had to jump through hoops and do trial and error. I wanted a NON- Hardwired 2 button switch, but the 2 I tried did not work. Finaly I just drove to guitar center instead of ordering anymore switches and settled on the: LIVEWIRE FSW22 dual button foot switch. The FSW22 was the solution.Although I prefer the seperate cord/unit switches, I think I'm now pretty satisfied. Remember an Inexpensive footswitch solution for this Inexpensive cool head (LiveWire FSW22)10 ft cable hardwired.

3 star review, as I kinda fell for the hype on this head. I've played tube, solid state, digital and modelers and can hear the difference in all of them. That being said, I did find some good things about this head. The cleans are outrageous. My guitars all loved the exquisite rich tones it can express. No problem with the clean channel. My big issue is the tone on the dirty channel. It's tweak-able but you really have be patient dialing it in because it is as sensitive as an amp can be. I found it really thin and fizzy and not a huge fan of scooped sound, but after painstakingly experimenting with the settings, I was able to dial in some tones and learned pretty quickly to take pictures of my settings. (-1/3 too sensitive, not a good back up - try Ampeg Solid State for a reliable backup) I love solid state and this thing is built for an arena. Seriously, in the studio and rehearsal space, I never saw "4" on the volume dial...it's too loud to mic and get good distortion or tone in the studio. Outdoors, cranked, this thing dominates and is obscenely loud. This might be the first time in the history of these reviews that someone has complained about an amp being too loud, but seriously, a master volume knob would solve all of this. (- 1 star) I'm a pedal guy, so the DSP fx rarely were engaged. I did use the reverb a little on the cleans, but it interfered with the tone on the dirt channel. The FX loop took pedals nicely with no drop in volume or tone. A foot-switch would have been nice. I dropped it 1/3 of a star for no foot-switch. The look is beautiful, but the tolex is easliy scratched. Even by something as light as a guitar pick. It will not win on the road like that. Non durability earns -1/3. I would never confuse this for a tube amp, and would rate it lower than the digital Line 6 Spiders based on inability to master control the volume. Acoustic makes really nice bass heads, and the Tube Lead heads are making progress. The price is ridiculously low, and then the old adage "you get what you pay for" comes to mind. Practically invisible customer service, but that's to be expected by an overseas offshoot of the original company. Acoustic USA are great dudes. Here's hoping they learn how to develop this product.

Comments about Acoustic Lead Guitar Series G120H DSP 120W Guitar Amp Head:

I'd just like to add that I was mistaken, there is an effects loop but no lineout. it bothers me when I goof up. So there you have it! I love mine, and highly recommend! It is a high quality amp and a steal at this price!

Comments about Acoustic Lead Guitar Series G120H DSP 120W Guitar Amp Head:

I had an Acoustic amp in the 70's and ordered this. I like to have backups available for unforseen problems and solid state is perfect. This is a high quality amp with both channels sharing a tone stack. The clean channel rivals my old Rivera amp with very useable delays etc. No footswitch. I use my 2 button Rivera fs as well as a peavey bandit 2 button fs. 8 ohm spkr out. no effects loop or line out. Mine arrived in pristine condition and I love it! I like having the flexibility of using different amps and this is a steal for the money. Loud. nice cleans. overdrive is okay. but I use a pedalboard. I recommend!

Comments about Acoustic Lead Guitar Series G120H DSP 120W Guitar Amp Head:

I tried this heads out to see what it was all about. I played it with a Marshall 212 cab I believe it was and it sounded amazing. Yes you can play it quiet for small venues if you need to and YES you can do that with a 412 Acoustic cab too. Acoustic makes some great amps. their bass amps made Led Zeppelin's bass sound and there are a few other top named acts using Acoustic. Clean tones from this had and you might prefer your own pedals. there are a number of effects built in and those have their uses. you have a number of possibilities with this amp and YES get the 412 cab. You can get a 212 cab too. Sounds like a tube too. IF you feel the need to rock like the pros and need to save big cash then this your amp. If you need some setting suggestions, go to the Acoustic website and you will be able to download the users manual. I have a G100FX ad plan on getting this amp as well. These are some great amps especially for musicians on a budget.

I bought this amp thinking I could run effects into the clean channel and it wouldn't matter that the on board effects are weak. It might be ok for someone who is just starting out playing, but after having it for a few months Im not very happy with it. It has a very thin sound, especially when I play lead. I'm going to upgrade soon..... The guitar " technician" , sales person let me play it in the store and I made the mistake of not turning it up, AND of course the guitar he let me borrow in the store was a very expensive LP...thanks.....

Comments about Acoustic Lead Guitar Series G120H DSP 120W Guitar Amp Head:

Nice & versatile tones. The gain channel has a nice distortion for practice and recording. I use an Ibanez RG series guitar & one (1) Kustom, 120 watt, mono (4 x 12) speaker cabinet. It works for recording & I have a unique tone compared to most others. But, the features are lacking. Only a send/return jack for effects in the back w/ two 1/4 inch speaker outputs. So-plan on micro-phoning this one out no matter the event! The effects are meant for sampling & best turned off if you have another source for effects. The send knob keeps trying to fall off after seven months of use as well. Overall, unique tones that are good for home uses like recording or rehearsing. I'd suggest a Randall RG1003H 100W Solid State Guitar Head for live and loud instead. Remember, you will need microphones if you plan on performing or recording with this amp; because the send/return channels sound very fuzzy when used directly with recording. I use an Audix and Peavy duo microphone combo for recording and small gigs-and I am pleasantly surprised and happy so-far!
