This is a very sturdy stand. I have two; one for the road, and one for the studio. Unless you have a complex multi-key set-up, and are standing when playing, all you need is this stand. For the extra bucks, I'd choose this stand over the "X" stands any day. It's like the platform stands I used with Rhodes pianos. It's got a lot of adjustment for width and height, as well as adjustable feet should you ever be on an uneven surface (never happens, right?). It'll hold the heaviest keyboards, like your Motif for example. Folds neatly, sets up quickly, store it in a keyboard gig bag, and you're all set.

I cannot fault the build and construction of this stand. It provides an absolutely solid platform for an 88-key stage piano and also folds into a very compact space. From that perspective it is way better than the x-stand it replaced. My issue is that it is too high. The platform is 25 inches from the floor (not 26 inches as the specifications say). When you put a standard keyboard on top, the keys are nearly 30 inches from the floor. This is uncomfortably high for the average piano bench and way too high for a normal chair, so I can't use it while sitting at my workstation without swapping chairs. On the other hand, if you want a stand for gigging while standing up, there is plenty of height adjustment left.

Sturdy and Wonderful!

This stand is worth the upgrade I made from the inexpensive one I first bought. Worth the extra money, for sure.

Solid Stand

Solid footing with this stand. And no "X" to bang my knees on! I like being able to adjust the width without affecting the height.

One serious flaw

By Laura Ousset

from McNeill MS

While this stand is sturdy and well built, it has one flaw which caused me to send it back. There is no positive clamp on the folding legs to keep them from folding back up again if the stand is not fully set up or takes a hit from the side. A simple sliding collar around the joint, like most folding tables, would have solved this problem. Bought this over the internet and returned it at a store. Guitar Center staff was great about taking the return and helping me find a better solution.

Sturdy

By Ronnie Perez

To begin with, I'm going to be honest, I had purchased this stand with the intention of using it as a platform for gear (it's a bit silly but it made sense to me), so if anyone else had this in mind, I'll give you some insight before you buy it. It WORKED... but unfortunately, if you use it fully extended, the center indents a little when you have two or more devices on the platform. I had a 49-key keyboard and a smaller analog synthesizer on it, and the center caves in a bit, which looks a bit awkward. I ended up not keeping it this way, however, when I set the platform to the minimum width, it makes for an extremely sturdy platform (which I left the 25-key synthesizer, and a BCR2000 controller) that would work fantastically as a small platform for electronic performing or for DJ's. When set at the lowest width, it's rock-solid. Now, for anyone else who just wants to use a keyboard on it I'll say this -- I have used SO MANY STANDS in my life, from expensive to inexpensive, and I have NEVER had a "Sturdy" stand experience. You know that feeling when you're sick of that wobbly stand and you put your keyboard on your table instead? Well, that's what the On-Stage platform stand is! It's the same sturdiness as putting your keyboard on the table. Don't believe me? Try one out. You'll never feel the same on any other conventional keyboard stand. :)

Unconvential Stand

By Cliff Conti

from Nashua, NH

This is a great keyboard stand and stands apart from other types. Can be adjusted to a standing height, and leg levelers-pads are helpful. The only issues I see are that I tried to slide it sideways and it nearly collapsed due to the upper leg locks. It would never tip over otherwise, I had put 2 legs on 3 wheel dollys to push it and it tried to fold. I like the dimples in the leg height adjustments so there is a height stop at about 2" apart and provides for a positive height adjustment. Only other issue is that the legs have no clips to stay folded when closed for travel. I use a bungee. This does work well for me and doesn't have the , now cliche, "x stand " look . I could see a heavy keyboard working well on this stand. I understand it will accept a second tier and there are open tubes that appear to be the place to connect a second tier.

Came on date promised, was easy to set up and with my MO8 next to my desk, the lowest hieght is perfect for my desk chair. It is very sturdy and well made and if I need to raise it it's a simple operation. Great purchase!

Universal Keyboard Stand

By David Baukol

I own this stand and have had no problems with it whatsoever. I use it for holding my PA Head which weighs about 40 pounds. It's very sturdy and I recommend it to anyone needing a good Utility table. Dave B. Tacoma Wa

Small

By Christina

from Irving, TX

This is a good stand, doesn't move much. I have a Casio DP100, it is longer than the stand on either side, and there is no way to secure the keyboard to the stand. I am concerned that someone might bump it when walking by and knock the keyboard off.

Why aren't there moe table top stands?

By sam roush

from indep. mo.

This thing is obviously great. I didn't wanna go half way with an X stand. It still wobbles some, But the main benefit for me is that I can cram an amp under it, or your legs, and all you need is 4 small spots on your floor for a place, unlike the X stands. I really needed this because I have a Wurlitzer EP and it weighs more than a digital 88 key. I THINK that you can add a second tier. Im not positive, but I saw one of these on ebay that included one. Its a hassle to change the height, but it gets really tall or averagely short. Oh and it looks awesome too If you can afford it, just get it.
