The stand is very sturdy and easy to assemble. I use mine while sitting and due to that there are a few things to look out for. 1) There is a hole @ ~24" and then nothing until about ~29" This is o.k. depending on your keyboard height. But if you're looking for a standard piano height you might need to drill if your keyboard is thin. Worked fine for a P85. 2) There is little room for your knees the way it comes. I fixed this by swaping the four hinged support bars so the top became the bottom, etc. This put the main cross bracket toward the bottom instead of directly at knee height. Was pretty easy to do and works great now.

By Barrett Snare

Comments about On-Stage Stands Folding Heavy-Duty Dual-Tier Z Stand:

This stand is easily the best stand on the site. It was so easy to assemble and my keyboard player loves it. He loved it so much he had to buy one for his house. The perfect two-tier stand!

On-Stage Stands Folding Heavy-Duty Dual-Tier Z Stand

By Christian G.

from LA, CA

Comments about On-Stage Stands Folding Heavy-Duty Dual-Tier Z Stand:

Just what the doctor ordered. Strong, simple to adjust, transportable with ease. I use an 88 key weighted on tier one, and a Nord 73 on tier two. The stand wobbles when I'm slammin either board with solos, but much less so than other brands I've tried.

Keyboardist's Serious Consideration !

By Peter Thornton

from Cedar City, UT

Comments about On-Stage Stands Folding Heavy-Duty Dual-Tier Z Stand:

What a great Keyboard Stand !!! That's all that needs to be said. Awesome value for the money. Easy to assemble, strong and sturdy. I highly recommend this stand to anyone needing it for dual Keyboards.I had the old style aluminum tube stand and this is far more efficient and much easier to utilize. Plus it is light weight and fits nicely on the stage, streemlined, not bulky at all.Travels well, I give it a easy 5 stars. Money well spent !!!

Excellent Upgrade from an X-Braced Stand

By J. Whitehouse

from Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Comments about On-Stage Stands Folding Heavy-Duty Dual-Tier Z Stand:

I play a Yamaha CP33 that weighs around 40lbs. After using a cheap X-Braced stand for a year, I decided to upgrade to a Z-style stand. Simultaneously, I settled on purchasing an Alesis Micron Synthesizer, so I sprang for a dual tier model. Compared to my old stand, the On-Stage is remarkably stable. Altogether, my gear only weighs about 60lbs; but I can pound those keys without any noticeable shake. Especially nice about this stand is its stability when standing on carpet. Most stands will stay put on hardwood, but thick carpet (as encountered in a living room gig) can pose a threat. This one handles berber well. Almost nothing in life is 5 stars. This one gets a 4 because it could stand to be lighter and easier to assemble. These are tiny critiques though. If you need a solid dual tier, this one should definitely be on your short list.

Super Strong Dual Stand

By Stu

from NH

Comments about On-Stage Stands Folding Heavy-Duty Dual-Tier Z Stand:

The stand was much stronger than I expected and should be able to handle anything. Even with all the features, the stand was easy to set up. I wish there was an adjustment for positioning the top keyboard further back from the lower one. The rectangular end plugs for the riser tubes fell out from gravity alone so I wrapped them with duct tape before plugging them back in.

Wonderful stand!

By Kyle Whitlock

from columbia, SC

Comments about On-Stage Stands Folding Heavy-Duty Dual-Tier Z Stand:

This stand in my professional opinion is hands down the best in the industry. I've spent countless hours comparing the many stands on the market. The price is even better! If you're over 55 in age then it may be a little hard on the eyes setting it up on a dark stage. One slight Con-watch out for the legs-EASY TO STUB YOUR TOES!!

Heavy Duty Stand at a Light Weight Price

By Adam B.

from D. F. , Pa.

Comments about On-Stage Stands Folding Heavy-Duty Dual-Tier Z Stand:

Out of the box took about 10 minutes to assemble (Instructions could have had more pictures). This is a heavy duty stand and accomodates my electric piano and my MIDI controller with no problem. It accomodates a wide variety of keyboards and adjusts to heights for sitting and standing players. Breaks down quickly and small for transport. I can bang on the keys and not worry about any stand malfunctions. Definitely worth the purchase!

Sturdy and Easy to use

By Jerry Sullivan

from Auburn, MA

Comments about On-Stage Stands Folding Heavy-Duty Dual-Tier Z Stand:

This stand is well worth the money I paid. It is very sturdy and easy to assemble and adjust. I keep it at my band mates home where we practice but when necessary, it is easy to transport to gigs. It moves alot less than my previous stand and I can use it standing up alot easier. Definately would recommend.

The best stand I've even owned

By Greg

from San Francisco, CA

Comments about On-Stage Stands Folding Heavy-Duty Dual-Tier Z Stand:

I've owned a half-dozen keyboard stands since the late 80s: x-bar, A-frame, Apex column, Deltex, ... and this is the most well designed study stand I have owned. It also fits into tight corners in the studio UNLIKE the cross-bars or column stands. Well worth the money.

The most folding Keyboard Stand I've used

By Thomas

from Sugar Hill, GA

Comments about On-Stage Stands Folding Heavy-Duty Dual-Tier Z Stand:

This is the third different folding keyboard stand I've purchased over the past three years - I've been looking for the best stand for the lowest price to take to gigs and now I've found it. The OnStageStands folding Heavy-Duty Double Tier Z stand is the best I've run across - more stability and more room on the floor for pedals. All three stands I own break down and fold up - I like to fold the stands to the point that I will not have to make any adjustments when I set them up at the gig, and this one will fold down pretty small using that criteria - my first stand had to be taken apart (the second tier was an add-on) and the second stand was not stable enough for me to feel safe putting my Korg Kronos on. With this new stand, I've found the best, albeit most expensive, keyboard stand for me. The other two I keep at home for practice and rehearsal and leave this one packed up and ready to Rock'n'Roll.

    Comments about On-Stage Stands Folding Heavy-Duty Dual-Tier Z Stand:

This stand takes just a little longer to set up than most but is well worth it. It looks great and professional and holds both my 88 keyboard and a smaller synth equally well. For my usual sitting position it did not have holes bu t I was able to drill a couple very easily to fit my exact height requirements. And it actually folds smaller than those standard "X" shaped stands.

    Great stand, looks sweet

    By scat

    from Sierra Madre, Ca

    Comments about On-Stage Stands Folding Heavy-Duty Dual-Tier Z Stand:

Only reason I gave it 4 stars was when i received it and went to put it together, one of the lock pins was out of place so I had to find a long metal shaft to get it back in the hole. it took about 20 minutes to do so... minor problem. Other than that this thing is solid as a rock, best stand out there for the price.

    Good stand for the value.

    Comments about On-Stage Stands Folding Heavy-Duty Dual-Tier Z Stand:

    Nice stand. Key observations are:
    1) Did not come with assembly instructions. You pretty much have to figure it out from the picture.
    2) Be prepared to drill holes. The bottom section was too low. Next hole up made it too high so I had to drill additional hole about 1 1/2 inch up from lowest setting. Top section holes were too low. I had to drill extra hole to raise it up high enough so the top keyboard did not interfere with controls on the rear of the lower keyboard.
Other than the above, the stand seems pretty sturdy. I would not recommend for gigging. Probably need something lighter and easier to disasemble and reassemble. I have this in my permanent home studio. I bought it primarily because design allowed better leg room and space for FCB1010 midi pedal board. X-stand design is not pedal board friendly.

I have Hammond SK2 on bottom and Nord Stage 2 73 on top. Hammond cannot go on top as it is not stable there.

I based my purchase of this stand from the other reviews so felt it appropriate for me to write one as well. The stand is solid and I feel comfortable pounding the keys. Not very easy setting your position but once you find your spot you'll fee safe and secure.
