Comments about Odyssey Flight Zone Glide Style ATA Case for the Pioneer DDJ-SX Controller:

I was hesitant to buy this case when I first bought my Pioneer DDJ-SX due to the negative reviews; however I needed a case and this was the best option available at GC in stock so I got it knowing I could return it if it didn't meet my expectations. It is well made - no flaws in workmanship - very sturdy and visually appealing. Excellent engineering & design. A work-horse for traveling! The lock hinges open from the bottom edge when the case is laying flat on its vinyl feet - this means less chance on getting things caught on them. When the top cover is removed, the hinges are no longer present on the bottom that contains the DDJ-SX. The DDJ-SX fits firmly and snugly inside the case, even when carrying it from the top handle. Other people have talked about there not being enough space for cables - this is false. There is lots of room for all cables from the back opening of the case below the sliding computer shelf. The key and crucial issue is the proper use of foam spacers that come with this case. There are no instructions so you have to figure it out for yourself. There are 4 wedge-shaped spacers that must be placed correctly. Two smaller wedge spacers go underneath the back edge of the DDJ-SX controller so that it is elevated more off the floor of the case. Two larger wedge-shaped spacers go under the computer shelf so that when the shelf is over the top of the controller, it is held in place for carrying. I would definitely this case.

An Almost Perfect ATA style Case for DDJ-SX and SX2

    By DAN

    from Chicago, IL

Comments about Odyssey Flight Zone Glide Style ATA Case for the Pioneer DDJ-SX Controller:

This case could have been perfect if not for a few really striking things: 1) Not deep enough. Dimensionally, it needs an extra 1 inch or so in horizontal depth and vertical height. It is an uncomfortable squeeze to get XLR cable into and connected to the controller. I could honestly see this having a damaging effect on my cables in long term repeated plugging and unplugging. An extra 1/2 or so under the controller would give it room for a power strip and wireless mic receiver. 2) Sharp corners. I've gotten a couple of good scratches off some of the corners; particularly with the blank that covers the front where the headphone jacks are. 3) Wheels + handle. Seriously, I'm not young anymore and some wheels with a telescopic handle would make my nights out a lot easier. I do have to carry a folding dolly when I gig out with this.

    Great Case

    By JENNIFER KING

    from State Road

Comments about Odyssey Flight Zone Glide Style ATA Case for the Pioneer DDJ-SX Controller:

I have to say, the first case I received was like the other reviews very sloppy assembly. There was glue every where, the padding was uneven and the slide was to small so the supports were bowed out. Needless to say I returned it with help of Patrick (he was awesome) at the Charlotte NC store. The second case is working and looking great.

    Great case for the money

    By JULIUS MOKORO

    from Boston

Comments about Odyssey Flight Zone Glide Style ATA Case for the Pioneer DDJ-SX Controller:

This is a great case. I also wish there was little more room at the back of the case for xlr cables. I had to purchase a new set of cables to solve this problem. After that it was all good! I think the reviewer with the concern of putting pressure on controller with the extra parking pieces is using them incorrectly. The two larger wedged pieces (my case came with two sets of wedged pieces one set larger than the order. The smaller set is for another model not the DDJ-SX) ned to be placed one each on either side of the case cover (on the inside ofcourse!). They should be slanting forward. If these are installed correctly, there should be no pressure on any controls, as these contact the ends of the controller only. GC should make it possible to attach pictures. What I just described would be much easier if I could show you pictures. Also Odyssey should include some basic assembly instructions and or pics. For the price, this is a great case. Controller fits in it as a hand in a glove. Would buy one again if I had to.

    Design seems a bit rushed

    By Cody Esser

    from Madison, WI

Comments about Odyssey Flight Zone Glide Style ATA Case for the Pioneer DDJ-SX Controller:

After returning my Numark NS7FX and Odyssey Black Label Glider case and waiting a month on back order I finally received this new case for the Pioneer DDJ-SX. At first glance the case looks nice but within 5 minutes of unboxing it I noticed several design flaws. First, the latches and handle on the case seems as if they are mounted upside down. I own several different Odyssey cases and have never one with the hardware mounted this way. Second, after getting it opened and the DDJ installed I noticed that there is very little clearance behind the unit for connecting the inputs and outputs. My microphone cable for example, which is XLR, was pushing tightly against the back of the case. The outputs, again assuming you use XLR, are pretty tight as well. The third thing I noticed (and this is the most frustrating part) is that the shelf that is supposed to "glide" is extremely rough doesn't glide so much as it grinds the further you push it back. By the time I got it back far enough to access the library and effect controls on the unit I was using 2 hands and a good amount of force to move it. This force was required well before the shelf got to the little stopper they have attached to the left rear of the glide track. I did notice that lifting up on the back of the shelf helped it move with a little less resistance but I'm not willing to walk to the front of my table every time I need to adjust the shelf. For the record, I had the same type of case for the NS7 and the shelf was excellent on that. The last thing I noticed before I made up my mind to find another alternative to this case (which is proving very difficult due to the extremely limited options available at this time) is that after putting the lid back on the case and moving it 3 feet, I could feel the unit moving around inside. In Odyssey's defense, they do ship the case with several pieces of hard foam with velcro attached to them which I assume are meant to hold the unit in place when moving it, however it is nearly impossible to put any of them between the shelf and the unit without putting much more pressure on the knobs and buttons than I feel comfortable with. Also I fail to see how anyone is expected to slide velco across carpeting in order get the pads in position that they would serve any purpose at all. If I had to say something good about this case I would say that it looks nice and it's MUCH lighter than the case I had for my Numark NS7, but beyond that... well I really have nothing.

    Odyssey Flight Zone for DDDJSX

    By Richard yip

    from Paramus NJ

Comments about Odyssey Flight Zone Glide Style ATA Case for the Pioneer DDJ-SX Controller:

I had to wait a few weeks due to Odyssey back-order. Guitar Center was great, shipping was fast. This is my second Odyssey case. I love the case and it looks professional. It diffinitely will protect the unit. However I wish Odyssey would increase the backside by .5 of an inch. The DDJSX has xlr's connections. It fits exactly in the back with no room to move the the cable is bent. Hopefully it does not wear out. Otherwise I am very happy with the unit.
