I've been DJing for just over a year now. I started out just using Virtual DJ and my mouse, then I got a cheap Hercules controller. After about 6 months of only using those two things, I decided I wanted to get some "real" equipment, so I bought this package. 2 CDJ's and a mixer, what could go wrong? Well, for one, the CDJ's aren't all that great quality. They don't offer any effects, and you can't scratch with them. All you can really do is pitch bend, and mess with the loops. And it takes a long time to get to tracks towards the end of your CD's. Like, just to get to track 12 from track 1 will probably take a good 30 seconds, which doesn't sound like much, but it can really mess you up when you're playing live. The mixer, however is great. Gives you full control over your bass and treble, as well as master volume for each deck, and master volume for both at once. It also has a crossfader for cueing up tracks, instead of some other mixers where it's just a switch, so you can't hear both simultaneously. It has an input for a mic, and for headphones, which are both necessities. I never really used the iPod dock, so I'm not sure how well that worked, but I'm sure it wasn't TOO terrible. TL;DR Cons:: No scratch/FX Hard to navigate to certain tracks Only control over bass and treble, not low, mids, and highs. Basically, you get what you pay for. Its good to get started, but you'll want to upgrade almost immediately.
