Overview

Numark designed the motorized NS7FX DJ Software Performance Controller in collaboration with DJ software creator Serato. The NS7FX combines a premium mixer with 2 motorized, adjustable-torque turntables, real vinyl, and a professional audio interface to deliver performance to satisfy the most hardcore turntablist. The NS7FX also includes powerful effects controls for hands-on manipulation of the wide range of effects built into the included Serato ITCH software.

A full complement of premium faders, knobs, buttons, and Numark's new Strip Search virtual needle-drop control integrates seamlessly with ITCH. The NS7FX exchanges turntable and control information with your Mac or PC at more than 10 times standard MIDI resolution, resulting in a rock-solid hardware/software system that feels as good as it looks.

Developed in partnership with Serato:
The NS7FX was a collaborative development effort with Serato to deliver the finest computer DJ experience. It is a one-to-one, hands-on control instrument for Serato ITCH.

Because it was designed for ITCH, the NS7FX's set up time is the bare minimum. No tweaking, no mapping - just plug and perform.

Perfect feel:
Forget your experiences with other controllers. The NS7FX has 2 motorized, high-torque aluminum turntable platters. The turntable controls feature modern and classic settings that alter the feel to model the feel you prefer. 7" legit vinyl records with 45rpm adapters sit on real slipmats. There's no simulation here-the NS7 is the real deal.

Solid, rugged, rubberized buttons and knobs complement a high-precision, replaceable CP-PRO crossfader and D-TYPE line faders for an unquestionably high-quality feel. Numark selected the CP-PRO digital-VCA crossfader because it is outstandingly durable with low wear for a long life. It has a solid feel that is smooth and rigid. It's only natural that Numark's finest crossfader is a component of Numark's finest controller. Numark selected high-performance, D-Type digital-VCA line faders for their rugged, long-life performance. Like the crossfader, the line faders are replaceable. The crossfader offers contour adjust and reverse adjustment, enabling you to customize its operation.

System simplicity:
Forget the mouse. Forget the keyboard. The NS7FX renders ITCH software perfectly simple to operate, with its click knob and large, backlit buttons for navigating though your music library. You'll spend less time looking at the screen and more time enjoying performing thanks to the visual feedback you get from the NS7FX's more than 100 LEDs and more than 100 hands-on controls.

The NS7FX has onboard audio outputs so it's the only piece of gear you need to connect to the PA system or powered speakers. The NS7FX outputs 24-bit, 44.1kHz digital audio to the sound system on XLRs and RCAs. The front panel contains a mic input, an RCA line input, and both 1/4" and 1/8" headphone outputs with volume control.

The NS7FX comes with an integrated laptop stand that supplies safe, secure mounting for your laptop. You can use an ultrasmall space because NS7FX elevates your laptop off the table. The NSFX effect controller mounts conveniently onto the laptop stand for integrated effects control without taking up any additional setup space.

Precision control:
The NS7FX sends control information over a USB connection at more than 10 times the standard MIDI rate. This innovative communication technique yields extremely high-precision, low-latency control.

There's nothing like dropping the needle on a record for quickly locating a point in the track. Numark took that idea and developed Numark's own modern take on it with Strip Search, the unique virtual-needle-drop touch strip. You can locate a point instantly within the track using the on-screen waveform and Strip Search.

5 hot-cue-assign buttons on each deck digitally mark your cues on the track. These marker points are recallable in ITCH and Scratch LIVE, and you can load Scratch LIVE cue points in ITCH. Numark developed an extensive Serato-style loop section on each deck for creative remix capabilities. You can choose between manual and auto-loop functions and an automatic BPM analyzer further assists loop makers. Creating automatic smart loops of any measure length is a breeze, and you can mutilate and modify to your heart's content with a variety of controls such as Doubling, Halving, Shift, and manual controls. Multiple loop banks per deck make the NS7FX a great choice for scratch and club DJs alike.

Beat matching is straight ahead with 100mm, smooth, stiff pitch sliders. Plus and minus buttons, by popular request, are back for bending. There's also a zero-point LED, so it's easy to know when you're in the middle.

Audio quality:
Numark took extraordinary care in selecting the components of the audio signal chain. The NS7FX contains a host of professional audio connectors and a multichannel, 24-bit USB digital-audio interface.

The high-definition, post-mix analog audio output features a minimized circuit path containing only one audiophile-grade bipolar capacitor. This optimized design maximizes phase coherence, ensuring that the audio is tight and punchy.

Professional appearance:
The NS7FX's dual decks flank the mixer section. Its recognizable, professional appearance is supported by a clean design in matte and glossy black. The entire unit is housed in a heavy-gauge, industrial-strength metal casing that is ready for the torture of travel.

Serato ITCH software:
Serato ITCH is already familiar to you if you use Scratch LIVE. The new program builds on Scratch LIVE's popularity and adds some new key features. ITCH doesn't require a timecode interface, so the system can be as simple as, say, the NS7FX and your computer! Since ITCH makes timecode a thing of the past, you won't need to worry about needles skipping or vinyl wearing out. You can load your Scratch LIVE crates, loops, presets, and cue points seamlessly in ITCH. The NS7FX also works with most other MIDI DJ software and it supports iTunes.

ITCH is a high-performance portable music system with internal mixing and platter-style playback control. Because it's designed specifically for use with hardware control, ITCH has a clean information display.

ITCH handles audio processing and mixing including channel fading, EQ, crossfading and track trim, which are processed for outstanding control and management of your tracks, ease of recording your set, clip-proof gain management, and BPM calculation using the power of your computer's processor.

Serato's unique color waveforms provide an easy identification of sound and changes in the track. ITCH can set and store cue-points. It offers 3-range pitch control: ±8%, ±16%, and ±50% with Key Lock for manipulation of pitch and tempo independently.

ITCH has library management tools for backup and restoring your music. Advanced input and mix recording capabilities include recording your mix or just the aux input for sampling. The software supports AIFF, WAV, MP3, and AAC audio files.

The History function in ITCH keeps a comprehensive record of every track played and exports sessions from your history to 'txt', 'csv', or 'm3u.' ITCH also has a Loop Roll function that provides a looping effect where the playhead jumps back to normal time when you release the loop. Built-in key support ensures that ITCH reads key tags from MP3 files and displays them in the key column in your library.

First off. Yes. You will need a performance computer for this piece of equipment. That was one thing a lot of people were irritated about. that being said, there are latency and other settings that can be tweaked so Itch will perform as it is needed even on a "slower" computer. Second off, this is a beautiful piece of equipment. It is perfect for any level DJ. I learned how to DJ on scratch live on a buddys cdj's, and was very impressed with how similar itch was to scratch live. I had invested in a VCI 300 a few years back, and grew with that, both as a DJ and with Itch. I needed an upgrade though, call me shallow, but that little table top thing didnt make me "feel" like a DJ. So I got this. And I loved it. It is versatile, easy to use, but most importantly, it is an instrument. It is a professional level, quality device. I have had this for over a year now, and still feel like a child on christmas when jamming out on it. It performs exactly as expected, and the updates that serato keep throwing at us keep improving the functionality of the device. The new Beat Grids are awesome. Itch gets better and better every day. One of the other shortcomings people are talking about is the customer support. I feel bad, because I have never had a problem with serato or numark. they have always been very helpful. My VCI-300 broke, and im assuming they would have treated this the same. Im a college student, in a fraternity, and I DJ frat parties almost on a weekly basis. This thing will stand up to some crazy abuse, and still perform as it is supposed to. Its been over a year of this abuse, and its still my baby. Another one of the things people didnt like was a "lack of versatility". However, Im confused as to what people are trying to do with it that the NS7FX cannot do for them? They are worried about CD, but there is a way where you can just put it in the computer to take songs off a cd while in itch. If you needed to have a mic, there is a mic input. I feel as if the people that are complaining that there is a lack of versatility just give up at the first sign of "inconvenience". I prefer to have everything run through my computer, rather then depending on the instrument itself. What I mean by this. My music is all on my computer. I have no cds. i have no crazy 8 track players or anything. If I wanted to, I could have uploaded the stuff onto my computer before DJing something. There ARE ways around these things. And its really not that hard, either. There is one thing that I wish it did have. And that would be a computer thru function. So you could listen to youtube videos or something else from the computer without going through itch sometimes. This would be nice when trying to play like an iTunes playlist while you are setting lights up, or if someone has a request you dont have to get it on youtube, but like I said, there is always a way around it. You just have to be handy on a computer. Would I recommend this to anyone? Of course. Would I recommend you play around on one before investing? Absolutely. But I am confident that any DJ on any level, entry level to professional, would be satisfied with this instrument. I am one of those people who is always looking to upgrade things. I like to have the nicest things on the market. I legitimately do not want to "upgrade" this. I think it is the best, easiest, and most fun thing on the market right now. And, its awesome to wow people with it. Hope you consider this piece of equipment. You wont be disappointed.

I purchased my NS7 in March 2010 and in August the strip search on my unit started to malfunction. I called Numark support on 8/13/10 and sent it off. My NS7 returned to me on 9/9/2010. BUT when I open my box, I realized that my unit's platters had not been tightly secured, and had been flopping around while loosely threaded on the spindles. While testing my returned unit, I noticed that, A: My platters now wobbled, did not feel the same, and my left deck made a squeaking noise when back spinning quickly. AND, B: The original problem with the strip search had not been repaired. Soۡ_. I called Numark and got a new Return Authorization and a promise from a manager that it would be back to me quickly, and that it would be tested before leaving this time. Itۡs now been almost 12 weeks since I originally sent off my unit and Iۡm losing patience. I can tell the phone techs are growing impatient too (its getting harder to get them on the phone). Iۡve been told that my unit is repaired and itۡs in testing. Maybe Iۡm over reacting but it has been ۡ̏in testingۡݕ_ at the factory for over 3 weeks. Now Iۡm wondering if my unit will be the same, and if not, what will happen then? Probably more of the Numark service department telling me what I want to hear, and blowing me off.

don't waste your money

By DJ Dirty Scott

Comments about Numark NS7FX Motorized DJ Software Performance Controller:

OK first of this thing is really nice. I sat in guitar center and mixed several records did some cratching and was very impressed. That being said. Problem 1. You can't hook anything to it. What if you wanted to also use an outside source such as a record or cd player. If so you are screwed. It has an aux in but there is no control for it. Problem 2, Guitar center has it hooked to the a top of the line imac with 6 gig of ram. If you don't have a really fast computer itch will jam up on you. If you have money to spend on this then I suggest getting cd players or turntables and using actual Sarato scratch live. It will cost the same or less and it has much more virsatility.

Comments about Numark NS7FX Motorized DJ Software Performance Controller:

I just can't put this thing down, I even offered to do some free parties just to show off what I can do on it. Dj'n is made extremely easy on this & if you can do tricks and turntablism it's that much easier with the NS7FX. Set up is a breeze. I hooked it up in 4min flat just to see how fast I could set it up. This is the real deal, lightwieght, easy & fun. Best Dj equipment ever!!! Hit my inbox for details or if still deciding. I have the old school 1200's. I have the Panasonic cdj1000s. Absolutly no competition for the NS7FX. I say this & I've dj'd since 1984. TRUST ME!!!

Comments about Numark NS7FX Motorized DJ Software Performance Controller:

I am totally satisfied! I shopped around for the best quality turntables, and I believe I have found the top product in the market right now. Numark and Serato have created a seamless blend of technology that unlocks access to the world of disc jockeying. The quality of the hardware is unparalleled; sturdy and well-built turntables will not buckle under the pressure of continuous usage. Itch works perfectly with the controller, and puts your entire music collection at your fingertips. I absolutely recommend this to anyone serious about DJing, whether you're looking to upgrade or just starting out.

Comments about Numark NS7FX Motorized DJ Software Performance Controller:

I've been doing a lot research on these NS7FX and been watching videos. If you look up DJ TLM and DJ Eskei83 you can see how much stuff you can do with these NS7's. I purchased NS7FX 2 weeks ago and fell in love with. With all these features you can do so much with it. The setup look so clean and don't need to worry so much about wiring. Best purchase at Guitar Center.

Comments about Numark NS7FX Motorized DJ Software Performance Controller:

Thought I would have some fun for new years 2011. Bought the Numark ns7fx and a whole live sound rig and threw a party! Yeah, a lot of money but it paid off. I'm getting calls from left and right to gig all over town! Definitely a great buy. You'll be the show of the party! Very easy to learn on, good quality nobs, and even feels like real turn tables! I will never forget this purchase.
