i use the 5A nylon ones... i got a 20 pack like 3 years ago and am just now buying another multipack... these things really are the shiznit. i play metal at home and play weekly in a cover band, so you can thrash them and they hold up. the nylon tips eventually snap in half, and outlast the sticks themselves.
The one thing i like about these sticks is they break fairly easially which is cool for the audience. the price is good, i've had these sticks for a while, i would say i would have to get new ones maybe once a year, which is really good because i hit hard.
Lightweight, straight, durable. I got the wood 5B's. The bead has a different shape than other 5B's-- these have a bead shaped like those oblong seedless grapes-- but they're fine. This is the way to go if you want low priced sticks that play fine and wont break easily. You'll want the denser premium sticks for gigging, but for home practice, when you're not that concerned with perfect tone and weight, use these.
