The perfect combination of heavy sounds and light weight!

You'll think the Nord Electro 2 Seventy-Three Stage Piano/Organ is the best emulation of traditional electromechanical keyboard instruments ever. 73 velocity-sensitive semi-weighted waterfall keys, only 21 lbs.

The organ in the Electro 2 is based on the digital simulation of the mechanical tone wheels of the B-3 organ and it offers a number of very innovative solutions to mimic the typical B-3 sound. Such innovations include: complex digital modeling of the original B3 chorus and vibrato scanner, simulation of the individual random contact bounces for each partial, and simulation of the unique frequency characteristics of the built-in preamplifier which forms the body of the B-3 sound. The drawbars are represented by up/down buttons and LED bar graphs. So when you change presets, the correct drawbar settings are shown immediately by the LEDs, avoiding the need for trial and error.

The piano section comprises several carefully multi-sampled electric piano instruments. As a bonus, it also includes an acoustic grand piano. The piano sounds are built up by a vast number of multisamples to catch every nuance from soft to hard hits. USB interface for quick and easy download of new piano sounds. Very flexible effects section including a rotary speaker simulation.

Nord Electro 2 Seventy-Three Stage Piano/Organ Features:

  • Drawbar settings presets: 8 drawbar presets plus a random preset function in ROM and 9 user drawbar settings
  • Keyboard Split: Makes it possible to play an organ sound with 2 different drawbar settings
  • Supports an extra MIDI keyboard in addition to its own for 2-manual play with varied drawbar settings
  • Electric piano section: Rhodes Mk I Stage Piano, Rhodes Mk I Suitcase Piano, Wurlitzer 200A, Clavinet D6 and the custom modified Clavia Electric Grand Model G, and stereo acoustic Malmsjoe grand piano
  • 48 user memory locations (6 banks holding 8 programs each) in which you can store complete setups, including instrument settings (organ or piano) and effects settings
  • Effects: Overdrive, rotary speaker simulation (slow, fast, stop), equalizer, chorus (2 types), flanger (2 types), phaser (2 types), tremolo, wah-wah (2 types), auto wah, auto panning, and ring modulation
  • 73-key (6-octave) velocity sensitive semi-weighted "waterfall" (square front) keyboard
  • Connections: 2 audio outputs, 1 headphone output, 1 control pedal input, 1 sustain pedal input, 1 rotary speaker speed switch pedal input, MIDI I/O, USB interface
  • 44"W x 11-1/2"D x 4"H
  • 21 lbs.

Flawless

I've had mine for months now, and it is a work of art. So lightweight, so easy to operate. The control interface is so intuitive, you'll know how to use every control in a matter of minutes. And the sound is unprecedented. The onboard effects are beautiful. I struggle to make a bad sound on this thing... You might consider picking up your favorite reverb and delay unit, as the Electro doesn't have those effects. Honestly though, I'm glad they didn't include too many extra effects. They focused on what's important, and this keyboard is just incredible. Play one... you'll be hooked.

Nord's Emulations are spot on

When you first strike a chord on the Nord Electro 2, you'll realize that your options are virtually unlimited. There are a few definite settings such as Clavia, digital, or acoustic piano, but those are just the beginning. The virtual drawbars allow you to tweak and sweeten the tone of any instrument in the banks to sound all your own. The feel of the keys is much more like that of an organ and NOT like a fully-weighted piano keyboard. This is because the Nord Electro 2 is designed to play like an organ. The Hammond B-3 on this thing is fat and greasy and worth the price alone. The Wurlitzer meets Rhodes tones are the most mellow I can find, and adding the rotating speakers to the mix will send your head spinning. A great buy for those die hard fans of electromechanical organs whose backs die harder than their ambitions!
