MASCHINE MK2 is the second edition of Native Instruments' highly respected groove production system and it comes stacked with numerous enhanced workflow improvements for an even more intuitive experience and faster performance. MASCHINE lets you effortlessly produce beats, melodies, and harmonies with powerful drum synths, premium sounds, an integrated sampler, and more – cutting-edge software meets intuitive hardware for ultra-smooth workflow.

MASCHINE’s multi-color pads provide ultimate feel in the thick of the beat. Dedicated group buttons and a master push encoder deliver hands-on control of sounds and key parameters. And eight display knobs automatically map to key instrument parameters for on-the-fly, two-handed tweaking and sound shaping. The included MASCHINE 2 software is exploding with cutting-edge technology. Improved browsing, arranging, and sampling, plus a new mixer, plug-in strip, and exclusive drum synths. Get ready for the most responsive, fluid, and musical beatmaking experience ever.

Scales and Chords
MASCHINE 2 extends Keyboard Mode with a new scale and chord engine – fully integrated into the MASCHINE workflow. Simply select your scale and start playing melodies on MASCHINE’s 16 ultra-sensitive pads that are always in key. Engage Chord Mode and play chords directly into your compositions.

MASCHINE 2 extends Note Repeat into a fully functional arpeggiator. Play any number of notes and let MASCHINE turn them into a melodic pattern. Use the arpeggiator in combination with Scale and Chord Modes and get polyphonic performances from just one key – always in tune. What’s more, the output of the arpeggiator is recorded into the Pattern Editor – perfect for post-performance editing.

Keyboard Integration
MASCHINE 2 gives you full keyboard functionality within the MASCHINE environment. Press browse on your KOMPLETE KONTROL keyboard and the KOMPLETE Browser pops up on your computer screen, letting you select and load a sound directly into a sound slot in MASCHINE. Watch scales, chords, and arpeggios light up across KOMPLETE KONTROL’s Light Guide™, see the color of your sounds in MASCHINE directly on the keyboards, and get perfectly mapped parameters instantly with Native Map™.

Introducing Native Kontrol Standard®
KOMPLETE KONTROL continues its evolution with Native Kontrol Standard® (NKS). NKS is Native Instruments’ extended plug-in format that opens up the KOMPLETE KONTROL system.

It allows VST and KONTAKT instrument developers to integrate their plug-ins with KOMPLETE KONTROL and MASCHINE at the same deep level as KOMPLETE Instruments. This means that even instruments not built by NI can be fully integrated in the KOMPLETE KONTROL and MASCHINE browsers, with instrument parameters intelligently mapped straight out of the box. NKS instruments can access the Light Guide, Smart Play features, and the full creative potential of KOMPLETE KONTROL. And what’s more, the NKS version of an instrument will be a free update for existing owners.

Save On KOMPLETE Software!
If you are purchasing, or already own a MASCHINE Series product, you qualify for special pricing on KOMPLETE 10 and KOMPLETE 10 ULTIMATE. Comments about Native Instruments MASCHINE MK2:

Overall the Maschine has a great workflow that is a lot more streamlined than other software I have used in the past. The hardware and controller sync perfectly, and you rarely have to touch your computer. This makes making music a lot more fun and organic. It is not very user friendly or intuitive. But, I can say that once you learn how to use browse mode and groups, you can easily construct a basic 4 or 8 bar scene (loop). I am still learning but I do have a few basic complaints. One, it appears as if you can not do solo or mute automation. Correct me if I am wrong. But I am sorry, this I a very basic function in any other daw. It needs to be added. Also for people still running OS X Yosemite, Maschine hardware will not function if you have pro tools installed. There is a plug in you have to remove first. So this is something that wasted a lot of time my first day using. Overall it's a good product and I would recommend. Just be sure to have another daw to use with it just in case.

You'll definitely want this as part of your arsenal!!!

Comments about Native Instruments MASCHINE MK2:

The Maschine is dopeness...the groove feels nice, and talk about arranging oooweee!!! it comes with Massive so i got some great sounds. i haven't broke out the keyboard controller yet. you get use to those pads as a keyboard. eventually i''ll stop being lazy and use the keyboard. I recommend if you never use or operate a Music Production Tool, you should download the Getting Starting Manual, It'll help you out in the beginning. the rest is straight forward. Its all in the Getting Started Manual, thats the thin document not the big document you'll go nutz trying to figure that out.
Happy Producing!!!!

Very nice program and controller

By matthew

Comments about Native Instruments MASCHINE MK2:

Maschine MK2 is super nice. drum kits and the ability to tweak each sound in so many different ways is out of this world. Sample quality is very good, very high quality. Controller is also high quality and smooth. The pads are sensitive to pressure ( harder you press the louder the sound). The kits and controller are customizable. The set up/installation was a pain. First there are multiple steps for install and you need to download the actual M2 program from NI website. The package only has libraries of sounds. It is about 10 gigs of info that you must download. It took me about 3 hours plus for download time. Yes I have a fast connection. 10 gigs is a huge file. The software is not a DAW its more of a VST. The M2 program is super good and really easy to learn. The controller controls everything on the screen so its really good like that.

There are other options

By Christian Castro

Comments about Native Instruments MASCHINE MK2:

I bought the Maschine last year and it is a great drum controller. Unfortunately, Native Instruments took on the DAW marketplace. This being said it does not compare to the Pro Tools or Logic Pro. It is more like Reason. It can get the job done fast. It is kind of absurd that you have to pay this much for 16 pads too. Don't let the lights fool you. They are pretty but you are paying a lot of money for some rubber midi controller, I fell for it. If you are serious about producing get Pro Tools or another really good daw. Then if you have money to waist, get the machine.

Unadulterated Joy

By Jeffrey Lopatka

from Chicago, IL

Comments about Native Instruments MASCHINE MK2:

Do you remember what it was like when you were a kid and got your first gaming system? Do you remember opening your eyes in the morning to that feeling of pure, unadulterated joy of being alive? For beat-heads, loop gurus, and other sorcerers of sound, that's what owning a Maschine MK2 is like. Especially if you're a little older and remember what primitive sampler / sequencer / groove boxes were like (ASR-X, 505, MPC2000), you'll immediately notice how high-quality of a piece this is and the potential for having some serious fun. I've had mine now for 4 days, and every minute I spend with it is better than the one before. LET THERE BE NO MISTAKE: this is NOT a toy. This is HQ through and through. Sure, there are inevitably going to be some trivial preference things that some people hark about, either voicing their loyalty to another brand or just being the type of person that could find fault with anything, but I'm willing to bet their music sounds just like their attitude. What makes the Maschine so great - it's smartly designed: it makes making music fun. The fact that you can change the colors on the pads to light up underneath your fingers in some neo-Simon memory game throwback makes me think you may use more of your brain power when you rock this. You go to sleep thinking about what you're gonna do with it the next day. My girlfriend hates this about the Maschine. I dunno, I'm just one guy. But this guy loves his Maschine. I'm going to go make beats right now.
