Create tight rhythms, harmonies, and melodies in moments with MASCHINE - the highly enjoyable instrument that combines a pattern-based sequencer, professional sampler, multi-effect unit, and VST/AU plug-in host. Everything is intuitively controllable via the fully integrated hardware - once you touch the tactile controller the fun and intuitive workflow takes over, allowing you to stay focused on what matters - the music.
MASCHINE is constantly evolving; the latest 1.8 free update makes it possible to do offline time stretching and pitch shifting, host transport control, pre-listen to samples from hardware browser, and muc more. There are even new effects like Transient Master and Tape/Tube Saturators all for a free update.
Studio Powerhouse MASCHINE integrates easily into your computer-based studio setup. Use the hardware controller to find, load, and play sounds, automate parameters, and arrange patterns on the fly. Combine this with the ability to control and sequence all of your external hardware instruments, or switch to MIDI mode to control other software.
After quickly and intuitively developing your ideas, drag and drop your patterns as MIDI or audio files directly into your DAW to finalize and mix your production. You’ll soon realize MASCHINE is a powerhouse capable of revolutionizing the way you make music.
Creative Performance Tool MASCHINE is fast becoming the ultimate performance tool for creative musicians. The MASCHINE controller is super-sturdy, yet easily portable. The highly responsive pads and endless rotary knobs are addictively playable, while the two backlit displays keep you informed of what's going on - perfect for any club or stage.
Use MASCHINE as an instrument for performing your own tracks, or sync it with other gear like TRAKTOR PRO 2 (sold separately) to add more dynamics to your live set.
Supreme Sounds Mode MASCHINE comes with over 6GB of ready-to-use, professional and inspiring sounds. Create rhythms and melodies right away with the included drum kits, one-shot samples, basses, synths, and acoustic instruments - all fully tagged for easy browsing.
MASCHINE now also includes KOMPLETE ELEMENTS (worth $59 / 49 €), providing more than 1,000 stunning sounds drawn from the flagship KOMPLETE 7, opening a world of styles and flavors ready for use in your productions. And now, you can add extra fuel to your MASCHINE with the new range of MASCHINE EXPANSIONS - premium sample kits created by renowned sound designers and artists.
What's New in MASCHINE 1.6 Plug-In Hosting Use any Native Instruments or 3rd-party VST or Audio Units plug-ins directly inside MASCHINE. You can even hook up combinations: e.g. load MASSIVE (sold separately) to Slot 1 and GUITAR RIG (sold separately) to Slot 2 – and tweak them both from the hardware controller - the parameters are automatically mapped to the knobs on the MASCHINE hardware.
KOMPLETE ELEMENTS Included To get you started using plug-ins inside MASCHINE a free copy of KOMPLETE ELEMENTS is included with this update. KOMPLETE ELEMENTS comprises over 1,000 stunning sounds drawn from the flagship KOMPLETE software bundle, including KONTAKT’s vintage ABBEY ROAD drum kit and Vienna Symphonic orchestral instruments, six REAKTOR synthesizers and 35 GUITAR RIG amps and effects. Workflow Enhancements
In addition to plug-in hosting, many other new improvements have been made. These include pad-link, swing per sound, internal drag-and-drop of audio, renaming of clips, duplication improvements, and 16 stereo outputs.
Pad-Link Any pads in the same link group can trigger each other – play multiple sounds such as two snares and a clap by hitting just one pad. Select one or more pads to be the master, and others in the group to follow as the slaves - perfect for musicians using MASCHINE in a live context.
Swing Per Sound Swing allows for rhythmic shifting of a pattern, creating a shuffled, live feel. Swing can now also be applied to individual sounds in MASCHINE 1.6, rather than just at the Group or Master level. Module Slots The architecture of MASCHINE’s module slots have been modified to allow great freedom and flexibility, with instrument and effect plug-ins now selectable in the first module position - select either Sampler, Input, MIDI Out or Plug-ins for the first module slot and use the remaining slots to host any combination of effects, external or internal.
Enhanced Drag-and-Drop Now you can drag-and-drop single or multiple files into MASCHINE directly from your operating system, and build up your own customized library of samples. Plus it's now easy to move audio within MASCHINE from one location to another - great for converting a Group to audio to free up resources in MASCHINE.

Ok, so I sold my MPC on ebay and although I got my asking price, I immediately felt naked. That MPC had been with me through the good and bad times. So now what? I had always wanted an Axiom so I copped a 49 2nd gen. The ability to control Logic was cool but it wasn't enough. The pads were so far from Akai pads, I couldn't bare using them and the semi weighted keys weren't that nice either. Although some people swear the axiom pads are nice, I beg to differ (most mpc users would too). So back it went to the store. Then I stumbled upon the Maschine, for which I had been ignoring since it dropped because I thought it was just a gimmick. What could compare the MPC? The youtube vids were enough to sway me + I got a good deal, so I copped it. Daaam, this thing is nice! Now for you MPC heads that don't know there aren't any ins, no inputs just usb and midi. If you can get over that, you will more than likely love making the switch to maschine oh and the pads are dope! I don't recommend buying gear without first testing it, like I did, but this was a pleasant surprise. I only give it 4 stars due to the lack of ins/outs, but I have gotten over that. You will need a digital interface, but nowadays everybody has one anyway.
I haven't owned this for very long, but I am on my second one in three weeks and now have a hard time locating a third one. The first had a volume knob with static which caused the volume to jump around wildly. I got that one replaced with another, which seems to have a loose ribbon cable on the left LCD, causing the text to disappear if you tap the right pads with more than a light touch. If you tap the LCD a few times the text comes back only to go out again when you hit another pad.
I think the quality inspection team should look more closely at these after assembly. The first had a bad knob... the second has one knob which spins much more freely and loosely than all the others though it works fine. This suggests to me that corners are being cut in the manufacturing process or I just stumbled on a very bad batch.
The main reason for buying the Maschine was its ability to integrate the control of a standalone sequencer with the flexibility of a computer-based back end. If I can't rely on the hardware to work, it's not worth it.
Don't get me wrong, when it works, it's amazing. The updates the NI team produces to enhance the product and the rate at which those updates are pushed out is amazing.
But because of the popularity of the product, my crappy luck, and perhaps not so great quality inspection, I am not stuck waiting without use of my Maschine. These are selling like crazy, which makes getting an exchange difficult when nobody has any in stock. I feel bad for lowering the rating, but I have to be honest with what I've experienced so far and only feel envy for all of the Maschine owners out there who got a solid piece.
I still recommend the product, but make sure yours feels perfect, test the heck out of it, and don't settle for anything less than the price you are paying for this thing.
Now if you haven't seen the videos or at least heard about the maschine I suggest doing your homework about it first as I did. Now I heard through word of mouth about the maschine and how much of a monster it is and after reading all about it and watching other producers use it I was convinced that this is the future of production. It has definitely changed the production game with the way you can slice samples, the built in drum sounds you have right at your fingertips, the built in fx which work with no problems I mean I could go on and on but there's no need to this thing is it if you want high quality production and not have to pay that high cost this is it for you. I was an SP1200/MPC guy for my whole life and this thing takes what both of those can do combined with the software functions of a program like FL Studio and combines it all into one to give you the most phenomenal experience a producer can have. You cannot go wrong with this the only thing I would ever consider replacing this with is a MPC5000 and even that's hard to do because of all of the endless possiblity you cannot go wrong with the maschine it may just be the Greatest Of All Time but I will admit the MPC5000 is still in the running for that title to this point
