I have accumulated 10 of these mics for live use and in the studio. I have never had any trouble with any of them. The quality is superb!! I use 7 CM-88's to record a large concert band. When I return to the studio for mix-down, I can do my EQ and anything else with each channel with no noise, vibrations or any problems. If you have a live recording business, you need to stock up on this great mic at a great price!!!!!
I use 2 of these as overheads for my drum set. I've got 11 cymbals, plus 2 separate high hats. I don't mic my hats because these mics do a fantastic job of picking up all my bronze. For cheap money, this condenser can't be beat. I actually have these mic's at a lower level than the rest of my mics. That's how hot they are. Love 'em.
I bought this mic because I needed a cheap microphone for drum tracks and guitar tracks. It worked out really well. The only problem I had with the microphone was feedback. you have to keep it exactly parallel to the monitor otherwise you get feedback, unless your gain on the board is turned down so low you can't hear it. But overall I'd definitely recommend this to any artist looking to record a demo for press packages, etc.
These mics are awesome! I own 2 of them and the sound is just tight as overheads on the drums. The tom-tom sounds are awesome, and they just do one hell of a job for capturing the entire kit! The only thing with these versus my MXL 991 pencil's, is that you have to play with the TRIM levels to achieve that awesome sound, not the YOU have to crank them or anything, you just have to adjust them accordingly. Other than that you do get a great sound when recording drums and using them as overheads! Awesome product and awesome price!!!!
I have used these condensers as everything from drum overheads for rock n roll to opera chorus applications and they have performed as well as many other mics that cost AT LEAST 4x's as much. The noise floor is equal to that of many other higher priced models and the overall response and polar pattern is warm and true.
I am a high school music teacher on a budget. I ordered 3 of these microphones and they are working out tremendously. Their range is wide and the size is perfect. They are working out as a choir mics and as solo and group mics. It is great to have the students just stand in front of them instead of dealing with a mic cord and how close to sing into the mic. These mics have been a positive addition to my limited sound inventory.
This is a asome mic i have 4 of them on boom stands to cover all my cymbals on my drum set. a recommend
