I've had this mic for about 2 months now and in that time I've recorded several sessions. Some being instrumental, some being vocal and some being both. And I have found this mic to be actually very versatile and accommodating. This mic has good open end, little to no hum, and great response. Its range from high to low is actually pretty good and I would definitely recommend this mic for someone starting out.

If you're looking to buy this because it has both the software and the mic don't do it!!!!!!! You can't get a clear sounding recording with this mic. There's always "noise". I suggest you search for a different mic. As for the software, it's pretty good. I'm only rating this one star because of the mic. Even though ACID is alright I suggest you look into Mixcraft. Very user friendly and more comfortable and easy to work with than this Sony one. So get Mixcraft and another mic.
