This is a great mic. I have a sm58 that I mostly use for my main vocals, however, I have had the sp1 for about eight years and use it for both main or back up vocals and am very pleased with it. I'm not sure I can really tell the difference between them. I recently needed another mic and immediately chose the sp1 because of the success I have had with the other one and the price is ridiculously low. Very happy with it. I will continue to buy these!! Good solid mic, sounds great, never had any problems from it, dependable!
I use Shure SM-58's at church and wanted something cheap to use at home. I was surprised at the quality of the sound. If you're an audiophile, I'm sure you're not looking at this mic.
I don't know how long it will last, but I think I'd buy another one.
