The Nady SPC-25 all-metal construction feels extremely solid and well made.
This mic sounds like a much more expensive condenser microphone. The crispness and clarity are unreal and the two stage metal grill and filter help with popping - you may want a studio pop filter for digital recording.
Singers who move a lot while singing will need to adapt to the very tight super cardioid pattern as this mic drops off quickly if turned to the side.
Don't worry about having to "eat" the mic as it has excellent sensitivity - screamers may need to back off as it might distort the output signal.
The Nady SPC-25 is much hotter than the Shure SM-58 (keep that in mind if you mainly use an SM-58) but has an overall smooth open sound that does not have too much top end hiss. Despite being a fairly hot mic I haven't had any issues with feedback.
Came with a sturdy foam lined case and stand clip.
You won't be disappointed by this microphone.
I am VERY picky about my sound, especially when it comes to microphones. Sound must be clean, clear, and preferably as close to flat, as possible. The SPC25 fits that bill better than any. In comparison, the SM58 (which I have never liked) sounds muddy and inarticulate, to me.
If you have never used a condenser microphone, before, this is a great way to try one on for size. Even on an average sounding PA, the difference is noticeable. If you have a clean sound system, you'll be impressed, and will hear a huge difference, over the "industry standard" microphone.
To compare the sound to other mics in common use (assuming the gain is set properly to yield an equal sound level from each):
Sennheiser 855: The SPC25 is a little cleaner and much more open sounding.
Shure SM58: The Shure sounds muddy and inarticulate, in comparison. I has its place, but the SPC25 is FAR cleaner and more accurate.
Shure Beta 58: Not as much difference as the SM58, but still, the SPC25 is noticeably cleaner and a little less prone to feedback.
Shure Beta 87: Hmmm.. This one is a toss-up, since the 87 is also a condenser, but for the price, you know where my money will go.
EV Cobalt 9: The Cobalt 9 is a solid workhorse that I would choose over the "industry standard" any day (it is a better hammer than the SM58, and sounds cleaner, too). IT is clean and balanced, like its NDYM counterparts (i.e the ND767), but feels better in my hand. It still is not quite as clean as the SPC25.
As for the way it feels in your hand, this is a solid, smooth feeling piece of well-engineered sound equipment. I have yet to have a complaint, about the feel, or sound of this microphone, and I have loads of singers that I deal with.
