The NXT Series Double Bass opens up a new horizon for the serious bassist looking to play a great instrument on a limited budget. These new instruments, crafted in the Czech Republic by the makers of the renowned CR Series, exemplify flawless workmanship at an incredible value.
The NXT 4-String Electric Double Bass has a ¾ sized solid maple body and neck, and a graduated ebony fingerboard for a rich, full tone that rings true for every note. Asymmetrical fingerboard relief facilitates an even 'growl' from the higher strings and a clear, powerful lower register. The adjustable bridge and truss rod allow for low, fast action, or for higher string settings that encourage the traditional acoustic player to 'dig in' with gusto.
The on-board Polar Pickup System is an exciting new dimension in string instrument performance that offers powerful dynamics and rich full sound. Two separate mounted transducers beneath the adjustable bridge offer unlimited expressive potential. Each pickup is specialized for a specific task. A convenient switch gives you the choice to select a traditional arco mode for percussive attack and dynamic bowed response, or pizzicato mode for a smooth, sustained tone. Equipped with single volume and tone controls, the passive electronics provide plenty of overhead for the ultimate sound without cumbersome batteries.
The NXT 4-string Double Basses can be strung with electric or traditional acoustic strings, allowing the player to select from a wide range of set-up options, each with a unique sound and feel. In combination with the easy adjustment of basic set-up parameters, this versatile bass is adaptable to many different styles of music. Includes a self-supporting tripod stand with full adjustments for height and angle, and a padded gig bag that holds the stand and also has a pocket for a bow.

Great natural sound, action, and look. I've recently started playing with the bow, and the amplified sound is great. However, I find the sound to be a bit hollow when plucking. By putting my ear on the instrument, I can hear some great tones, but the bridge electronics are not transmitting much in the lows and mids. Couldn't quite justify spending the $2K more to get the active CR upright, so I'm working with a luthier to install a preamp in the housing. We tried to retrofit the SW4 EMG single coil active pickup (same ones that are in the CR Upright), but we are lacking the remaining electronics and mounting system to complete the install.
First off, all I have to say is "WOW!!." This is literally the coolest "Travel Bass" I've seen in a long time. Its nice and small so you can carry it around. Its also surprisingly durable. It like something that someone would use to play a video game with, but nope! Its the real deal
this is awesome. You should definitely buy it. It is worth every penny
i played on one of these at a band practice and it was crazy, one of the best portable fretless basses i have ever seen.
I played this bass for a couple of years. It was good, a great substitute for my old double bass. to me, this bass is a little expensive for the quality that you get out of it. Sure, it stays in tune pretty well and it is fairly comfortable to play but at times the sound seems a little muddy. A good substitute for a double-bass, but not the best one i have played. A solid Instrument, but it could be better.
I got this bass so i wouldn't have to haul around my upright. It is good to practice fingering and bowing on but i would never use it for a performance. The strings are just weird feeling on a bow, so maybe a string change would help...but it is great for what it is.
Construction is very solid. The bass has a very warm tone throughout the range. This bass is mostly suitable for latin and jazz. I would not recommend using a bow on this bass. While the electronics get the job done, they do not compare to putting a microphone on an acoustic bass for work with the bow.
all i can say is WOW! awesome for travel, where you dont want to lug around your full size...also comes in a pretty snazzy sunburst color...a must buy, for and level player!
