Now's the time to get downright upright

I've been wanting to add an upright to my arsenal for quite awhile, but just haven't been able to find the proper convergence of price, features and quality - until now. Let me state up front that the WAV 4 doesn't sound exactly like an acoustic upright, but it doesn't sound like a "big fretless" bass either (unlike certain other inexpensive electric uprights I tried.) Spend some time with it, tweak your EQ, hone your techniques (the upright requires a totally different approach than a bass guitar), and you can add a solid upright vibe to your repertoire - you can even bow it with good results. There are certainly better electric uprights out there, including NS Design's own CR series and the incomparable Eminence, but for under $1,000, this is it.
