I have four SMS-6000 Monitor Stands for a quad setup in my home studio, as well as another four for remote use. These stands are very versatile, allowing a variety of heights that lock with a pin. They hold heavy monitors (I've used them with Genelec 1031As and Mackie 824s with no issues). Every once in a while the screws need to be tightened, but other than that, they are stable.

These stands are nice for the money, they are quite sturdy and come with both plastic feet for hard floors and carpet spikes as well. Construction is good except for the cheap plastic ring that keeps the upper portion of the pole from swiveling in the lower portion. If you go even a little past moderately tight the plastic will break down the seam. So, keep this in mind and don't over-tighten the swivel lock, and I think you'll be quite happy with your purchase.

STAND TALL

By JOEY PARANOIA

Comments about Musician's Gear SMS-6000 Monitor Stand (Pair):

I couldn't tell how bad I needed moniter stands for my home studio . Everything sounded muffled . I decided on the SMS- 6000 b/c of the height adjustment and quality triangle feet . I dj and produce my own music and its great for quick rotation between the two. I can move the moniters 360 degrees without moving the stands. Everything now sounds fantastic. Should have done it sooner.

Strong Not Wimpy

By Fxmusician

from Cleveland ,Ohio

Comments about Musician's Gear SMS-6000 Monitor Stand (Pair):

I use these stands in my home studio, they are quite a good value for an outstanding speaker stand. The rigid steel top plate is a stable platform for your speakers, the stands are adjustible. The solid arc weld construction of these stands is outstanding, wooden stands perform poorly because wood stores energy, while rigid metal gets rid of it. The spike feet are great to transfer energy from the stand to the floor improving performance. These stands are not wimpy, they hold up to 100lbs. and are rock solid. Speaker stands are essential for my home studio, improving image clarity and bass, as well as midrange clarity. Plus proper tweeter elevation improves high frequency sound and adds an openess and ambience to the sound you can't get any other way. This is a great buy, check it out at Guitar Center.

Great Product.

Comments about Musician's Gear SMS-6000 Monitor Stand (Pair):

To be honest, I was skeptacle of the stands being able to support my KRKRP8's with ease, but they certainly do. I did my reaserch before my purchase and found several mixed reviews, but I took a chance and it cetainly paid off. The only gripe I have is that I wish the top plate was a bit larger, preferably 12"x12" (thad be sweet) but the 9"x9" works just fine. Other than that they are of much higher quality than I had aniticipated. Makes such a difference when your source of sound is at ear level, and I always work standing up and now realize how much detail I was missing. So, hope they work just as well for you.

Solid stands, minimum height required.

By Dustin

from Virginia, US

Comments about Musician's Gear SMS-6000 Monitor Stand (Pair):

Great Stands with very solid construction. My only complaint is that without cutting the pipe used to elevate the speaker platform, you cannot go any lower for placing larger speaker cabs. This is not an issue for most nearfield monitors, but with my placement, I have the speaker platforms all the way down and my monitors are luckily at ear height. I couln't put my big mains on them without a hack saw, if I were to use these stand for them. I may get another pair and do just that, they really are solid stands. Worth an investment.
