You may have seen other reviews on this item that slam the product because the violin bass does not fit into the case. Although this is true, it only takes about fifteen minutes to make a few adjustments and the bass will fit perfectly. I have to admit, I was skeptical about purchasing this case after I read this complaint on several different web sites. But for such a low price, I thought I would give it a try. I own a Hofner Violin Bass, and sure enough, when my case arrived it would not close when the bass was in the case. All I had to do was remove the 4 screws from the center piece that holds the bottom section of the neck of the bass (where it attaches to the body), and cut about an inch or so off the bottom. This center piece was too high preventing the lid from shutting. I made sure I left extra fabric to guarantee that I covered the bottom cut and bam - the bass now fits. I have to admit that you would think a case that is advertised to fit the violin bass would in fact fit, but as I mentioned earlier, for the price it was a small inconvenience. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars because it needed some personal touches in order for it to fit; otherwise, the case is great.

This case is supposed to fit the Hofner Violin Base, however it does not. Since this was the second case I had ordered with the first returned back for the same reason and because I needed a case for my Hofner I decided to have this case modified. So I took it to a furniture repair shop and they fixed it (only took 10 minutes and $10). So my Hofner fiits nicelly within it. Other than that this case for the price is good.

Great Case - Perfect fit for Hofner Ignition

By

Comments about Musician's Gear Electric Bass Case Violin Shaped:

I purchase this for my son, a Hofner Ignition bass. We considered the Hofner case which was over 2 times the cost and now we are very glad that we did. First, it fits the ignition bass perfectly. It is a snug fit but no adjustments were necessary. The case material (inside and out) is of nice quality and similar to more expensive cases I have seen. It has 5 latches to keep the case securely closed and comes with one locking latch for added security. No specific cons so far and we are very please with the value and quality.

This case has a perfect fit for my brand new Hofner Ignition Special Edition Ed Sullivan Show Bass. I didn?t have to modify it instead of what I read in other reviews. I am completely satisfied with the product.

Works for Hofner Icon perfectly

By

from The Villages, FL

Comments about Musician's Gear Electric Bass Case Violin Shaped:

This case had been on back order for a couple of months. When it finally arrived, I found it fit my Hofner Icon perfectly. Apparently the neck brace problems cited in other reviews of this case have been resolved. I guess the factory that makes them has listened to the previous complaints. It seems to be pretty solidly built but should be used for light weight protection. I don't think I would ship it on a plane or anything like that using this case. It's great for traveling in the car to gigs and such.

Nice case for my Epiphone viola bass with small mod

By

from Lincoln Nebraska

Comments about Musician's Gear Electric Bass Case Violin Shaped:

After reading the reviews I ordered this knowing that it would require modification. I remove the neck support by removing the four external screws and pulling it out (long staples, be careful). I was able to trim the Styrofoam block with a sharp knife, fold over the 'fur' cover, and re-install within about 10 minutes time. For that small effort I ended up with a great fitting case every bit as good as the more expensive TKL and roadrunner case I have my artcores in. The Epi fit like it was custom made for it for WAY less than the factory case. I had to order this on line, I'm in Nebraska, not far from the main Guitar center in Kansas city - I ordered it in the afternoon and it was waiting for me on my porch the next day! Highly recommended and well worth having to do the small mod.

Good case for the money

By

from Long Island, NY

Comments about Musician's Gear Electric Bass Case Violin Shaped:

I would have given it 5 stars except for the neck support. Same problem as everyone else, they made the neck support too high. You have to remove the 4 screws on the outside of the case which are holding it in place and gently wedge it out. There are also small nails holding it in place which are not accessible from the outside of the case, so be gentle. The support is made of styrofoam with thin wood sides. I took a small saw and cut off about 3/4". Trim the felt, put it in place and replace the screws. About 15 mins. The case has nice padding, and the hardware is fine. Like I said, a good case for the price.

2 min configuring the case to fit your Viola

By

from San Diego, CA

Comments about Musician's Gear Electric Bass Case Violin Shaped:

I give this case 4 3/4 stars. The only reason not 5 stars is because it takes a little configuring to make it fit the Viola bass you have(NBD)and the fact that in the product description this fact is never mentioned. I have the Epiphone Viola bass so I mesured the case to fit this bass. It only takes a person that is 2% smarter then the case and someone with a super basic knowledge of tools and their uses, so anyone with a standard philips screwdriver and a hacksaw blade or a serrated knife can make the ajustments needed to fit any Viola bass. One shot is all someone gets before this case is renderd just about useless. First DO NOT rip the neck support out, if you look at the case the'er four(4) screws holding the neck support in the case(2% smarter). Remove the screws take out the neck support and cut in a straight line across the bottom of the neck support however much is determined need to be cut off to fit the Viola bass owned, I have the Epiphone model so I removed just over 1/2 inch. Place the neck support back in to the case screw it back in place and it's done. This is very simple to do, I could go into further detail, but I don't want to insult anyone. A four(4) year old could make this ajustment to the case without even reading this review, it's all commonsense.

Fantastic case at an unbelievable price - but fit is too tight!

By

from Houston, TX

Comments about Musician's Gear Electric Bass Case Violin Shaped:

This case is an incredible value. It's also a nice case with the feet, plush insert, sturdy handle, vinyl covering, and nice latches. The only problem is that the fit is too tight for the Hofner bass sold by Guitar Center. The case is too narrow for the body of the bass. At first I didn't think the bass would fit in there at all and I had an associate assist me and he agreed that the bass would not fit. However, after a little pushing and shoving the bass will just fit if you compress the padding on the sides of the case enough. So it will work, but it's not right and certainly not perfect. Because of this I had my Guitar Center order the inexpensive case available from Hofner. That one is worse. First off, it's not Hofner branded even though it's supplied by them. It's just some cheap Chinese case that they've outsourced. It doesn't say Hofner anywhere on it. The quality on that case is not as nice as this Musician's Gear branded case. The handle, outer fabric, latches, and feet are all inferior. Incredibly, the fit on that case is also too tight! The Hofner case features a built in pillow under the bottom of the body of the bass and that pushes the bass up and doesn't allow the lid to close unless you mash it down. Squeezing the bass that way is worse than squeezing it sideways.

Nice case!

By

from So Paulo, Brazil

Comments about Musician's Gear Electric Bass Case Violin Shaped:

I bought the classic hofner violin bass and also this case. Despite a little and extremely easy adjustment on the neck bridge inside the case to allow the bass to fit in, the product is very good and well finished. The bass does not get loose inside the case.
