This particular pickup happens to be very good actually. I just put this pickup in my Strat and it REALLY REALLY woke it up. Of course the pickup is not always best for cleans, but thats why there's a colume knob to keep it from sounding a bit distorted. 4 stars because of the quality and the really nice tone and power that this pickup gives. I would have given it 5 stars if it were more punchy but big deal, it sounds SICK when distorted. Recommended if you're on a budget. Sounds VERY VERY similar to the invader, almost exactly. Its just not exactly as punchy sounding ast he Invader.

Best for low end Fender style guitars

By MAtthew Gehrcke

from Saginaw, MI

Tried this out in 4 of my mid level Jacksons and my USA model...pick up was muddy sounding and just didn't seem to have a wide frequency response. I ended up putting it in my kids cheap Behringer (starter) guitar in place of the noisy bridge single coil.... I hate to admit but that cheap pickup and cheap guitar together....soundes better than my upper end guitars plugged into a tube head.

The Best Low Budget Pickup Out There Today !!!!

By JEFFREY OSGOOD

from Woonsocket, R.I.

I just got this little bundle of dynamite in yesterday, which I installed in the bridge position of my ESP LTD M-15. Within minutes I could tell the difference in both tone and sound of my guitar . This pickup definitely improved the quality of my LTD M-15 without a doubt, clearing away the muddiness that the stock ESP LH-100 Humbucker had, and adding some much needed sustain as well . This Humbucker can do both clean and gain channels without sounding muddy at all . Of course it is a Ceramic pup and you need to make sure that the other pups on your guitar are Ceramic as well in order for it to be in sync with them. Installation was a breeze, taking only about 10 minutes. Just make sure if you are installing this in a guitar with more than one pickup, solder the Green wire to your pickup selector switch and not the Black one as it says in the directions. This is the only way that all of your pickups will have the same level of volume .

Great Sounding Duncan For Only A Mere Pittance !!!!

By JEFFREY OSGOOD

from Woonsocket, R.I.

I put this in the bridge position of a ESP LTD M-15 which I got from GC a couple of weeks ago and immediately I could notice the difference. There was no hum and the tone was much clearer and more powerful with much added sustain as well. Installation was only a few minutes and the manual was very easy to understand. Even though Metal Players love these, I play mostly Classic Rock with some Blues thrown in and this could handle those genres also. All in all, if you're on a low budget like me and can't afford to shell out the money for a Seymour Duncan, then this is your next best choice and definately well worth it. Highly reccommended !

Super high output, Super low price

By John Mahlendorf

from Sheboygan, WI

These things are incredible. ALL the power of the Invaders, less than 1/2 the cost, and NONE of the muddiness! Anyone calling these muddy is confusing them with the Invader (different magnets). Hottest passive pick-up I have ever tried! Incredible bite, and good chugga chugga bottom end. These made my guitar sound like it had an overdrive on it compared to the stock pick-ups in both guitars I swapped them out for (Ibanez and Micheal Kelly...both mahogany) You CAN get cleans on provided you have an amp than can do cleans well, and/or you roll the volume knob down a bit. Dollar for dollar, you can't beat these....heck you can't beat them at TWICE the price!!! Coil tappable, wax potted, great looks, great dynamics (when using volume knob) That covers Features/quality, look and feel LOL! AWESOME for metal....not made for vintage strat sounds LOL! Actually VERY good for rock as well.!

Great pickup... not muddy, high gain, and treble bite

By Alex

from Wisconsin

I know a lot of people would disagree but I put this pickup in a cheaper guitar I have and it sounds almost as good as my 81 that I have installed in my Ibanez. I'm running it on a Vox Valvetronix and on some channels it doesn't sound that great but on the others it sounds fantastic. Plenty of punch, high gain, great on pinch harmonics, and the treble bit cuts through as well. It doesn't sound muffled or muddy like I read in some other reviews for it. I can't believe people were giving this such bad scores... I think it all depends on your amp and what settings you have because like I said it sounds great on some channels and on others it doesn't sound good at all. I have a modeling amp so that is bound to happen. For the price I really wish more pickup manufacturers stopped charging outragerous prices for pickups when obviously you can get some good quality at reasonable prices like this.

Very Hot!!

By Stephen

from Newnan, Ga

I bought this to replace the stock pickups in my Ibanez RG320QMTL. Before installing it I measured it at 16.68 ohms. The stock was 11.05 ohms. Pretty hot. Easy install with printed instructions, electing not to do coil-tapping. Tested first with a Roland Micro Cube amp and then on my Marshall MG15DFX. On high gain settings it sounds awesome. Very crunchy and tight sounding. It is a lot louder than the stock (as expected) but also much tighter. It has a very good bite with a sharp edge without having too much treble. I play with the gain around 7, bass around 8 mid around 5 and treble around 9. Some have complained it sounds too muddy and I have not experienced that. On high volume I noticed the highs drop off a tiny bit but can rectify that by turning up the treble. Pinch harmonics are easy and notes ring out loud under heavy whammy bar abuse. Contrary to opinion there is a clean setting...It is called "off." This pup refuses to play clean. People knock it saying it isn't a real Seymour Duncan pickup. Look at the plastic case and cardboard insert. You can clearly see the "designed and distributed by Seymour Duncan" Enough said!! Great pickup for the price.

Gorgeous sound

By Draven

from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma

I just put this on my squier strat and the sound quality jumped. It gives it a beautiful tone for the rythm lines and amazing squeals for leads. I recently tried it with some blues and it almost made me cry because it sounds so beautiful. I would suggest this to anyone who wants a strat that squeals like Zakk Wylde's Les Paul. ?-Draven
