I am not a bass player but I own one for my studio. I just wanted a cheap case mainly to keep the dust off and for the price I thought it may as well be a hard case. The buckles are flimsy and the plastic is flimsy. If you are going to use this for gigs or travel, be very careful with it or look elsewhere. If you need a good dust cover with some extra protection then this is perfect.
When I first saw this case I thought it would be perfect for protecting my Bass when I'm not playing it beacause I have a little four year old around my house, and I was right, since this case I haven't had my guitar thrown out of tune from it being droped or strings broken from him tighting the strings. It has also worked really great for carrying it to gigs beacause of its slimmer style compared to most cases I have had/seen.
I really was just looking for a bargain. When I spotted this case. It looked slightly better than the tolex covered wood alternatives. And, I was right. This is a solid little case. My bass is a cheap basic instrument. But, I do care for my stuff. And, this case is just what I needed.
